Sunny woke up to see sunlight barely streaming into the room, and the sky still relatively dark. He looked at the clock near his bed and read the time. It was close to 6 am, but it was still quite early. Sunny looked towards the fort, and didn't see Kel. He might be downstairs, like on those other days. Why's he up so early? Sunny thought. Sunny made his way downstairs and saw Kel lounging on the sofa, staring off into the distance.

He looks..... Sad. But why? Sunny thought, as he walked over. Kel was barely illuminated by the early sunrise, but Sunny could see him well enough. Even though Kel looked sad, Sunny admitted he looked handsome, his face glowing in the early morning orange, eyes bright and filled with ...... grief.

Sunny sat on the sofa next to Kel, and leaned on him, his head resting on Kel's shoulder. "What's wrong?" Sunny asked softly, to not startle the boy. Kel blushed, and looked at Sunny, who stared up at him, eyes full of worry. "It's nothing." Kel answered, not meeting Sunny's eyes, and instead focusing on the floor.

"Must be something if you're waking up everyday to stare off into the distance." Sunny replied, resting his head on Kel's shoulder again, and closing his eyes. Kel sighed. "It's fine really. You don't have to worry about me." Kel replied softly. Sunny froze, and reached out to grab Kel's hands, and turned to face Kel. "We're DATING now. It's my job to worry about you." Sunny exclaimed fiercely. Kel was taken aback, and looked to the ground shamefully. "I'm sorry, I'll stop doing this." Kel whispered.

Sunny's gaze softened, and he pulled Kel into a hug. "You shouldn't apologise. I just want you to tell me what's wrong." Sunny said. Kel closed his eyes and rested his head on Sunny's shoulder. "It's just that..... I've been getting these dreams...wait. Nightmares, and they're filled with all of you guys, and they keep on telling me that I didn't do good enough, that I'm not good enough, and how I wasn't sad enough and-" Kel stopped, his confession cut short by his tears, which were rolling down his face.

Sunny hugged him tighter as Kel buried his face in Sunny's shoulder and sobbed, letting out all his feelings that he'd kept hidden away. Sunny held Kel close, and felt like they were similar in some way. They stayed like that until Kel stopped crying, and Sunny could feel Kel's heartbeat slow, as Kel drifted off to sleep, the overall lack of sleep building up on him.

Sunny smiled softly, and settled into a more comfortable position, and fell asleep as well, and there the two boys slept, holding each other as they snored softly. A dreamless sleep washing over them, like the calm after a storm.
