Kel stirred, and woke up to find his head on Sunny's chest. Flustered, he got up in a hurry and woke up Sunny in the process. Sunny met Kel's eyes, and sighed.
"Do you want to..... Talk about it?" Sunny asked nervously.
"Okay. I'll tell you whatever you want to know." Kel agreed, his feelings sinking. Sunny pulled Kel closer to him, and pushed Kel head onto his shoulder.
"How long have you been having these dreams?" Sunny asked, absent-mindedly playing with Kel's hair.
"Since you told us about what you did." Kel replied softly. Sunny felt a pang, knowing that he was the cause of this.
"Does it have anything to do with you breaking your legs?" Sunny asked. Kel smiled sadly.
"Yep." Kel admitted. "I was having a nightmare and felt like all the walls were closing in on me, and it was so uncomfortable and small in my room, so I went downstairs, coz the living room is bigger. I usually do that, but that day I slipped, and...y'know"
Sunny bit his lip, nervous to continue digging, but nevertheless, he pressed on.
"What...... happens in these dreams?" Sunny asked, knowing this was a touchy subject. Kel froze, then relaxed once more.
"I see you guys, and like.... Think about how I could have done better." Kel said sheepishly.
"What do you mean?" Sunny asked, confused.
"Like, the one I had today, was in your backyard, and the sky was red, like blood, and Mari was hanging there on the tree, and..... Staring at me." Kel confessed. Sunny froze, remembering his trips to Blackspace, and how it'd scared him. Kel turned to look at him, sensing something was wrong, but Sunny waved it off, and motioned for Kel to continue.
Kel took a deep breath, then continued.
"So first, Hero came up to me, and then started yelling at me like how he was yelling at me before he left. He was screaming about how I should have been more sad about Mari's death, and how I wasn't sad enough." Kel paused, then added: "He's right. I should be more sad." Sunny frowned, but stayed silent.
"Then Aubrey came up to me, and she started yelling about how I'm not supposed to be sad, and how I have to be happy for all of you, which is also correct." Kel stated. Sunny opened his mouth, then closed it, waiting for Kel to finish before stating his views.
"And then Basil came up to me, and told me about how I should have been there for him when he was going through all his problems, and how I wasn't doing enough for all of us." Kel said. Sunny stopped Kel and asked, "Do you think that he was right?" Kel nodded. "Of course he was right! Anyways, you came up to stand next to him, and then..... You told me the same thing he said, but....... It was different. And I felt Mari's eyes staring into me, and just felt so Ashamed." Kel said.
Sunny could see tears appear in Kel's eyes, and hugged him. Kel cried into Sunny's chest, and held on to Sunny's shirt. Sunny patted him on the back gently, then started to speak.
"If there's one thing I've learnt from Mari's death, it's that no one is perfect. It's not something you're born as, nor something you can achieve. The closest thing to being perfect is trying your best, and being proud of what you've accomplished. Because Perfect isn't real." Sunny said softly, as Kel continued to cry into his shirt.
