"Guys, let's move forward. Don't look at each other—just focus ahead. It's just a game. Don't fight. Think about what would happen if something happened to my beautiful face while you two are busy with your brawling..."

Before I can finish, Keith bursts into laughter.

"You're funny," Keith says, barely containing his amusement.

"But I wasn't joking..." I sigh, feeling like my plea for peace has turned into a comedy sketch.

We walk together like a mommy giraffe, a daddy giraffe, and... a tiny pig waddling in between.

I swear, even the trees are trying not to laugh.

"I thought you'd be dead by now, the way you played 'Six Strings of Life,'" Keith says, looking at me like I've just managed to tie my own shoes.

"Wow, thanks," I say. "And here I thought I was going to get a medal."

"Right," he smirks, "for not tripping over your own feet."

I glare at him, trying to look confident, but I think I just look like I'm squinting into the sun. "I'm good at what I do, okay?"

Keith scoffs at me, "How can you be so clueless? Don't you know the basics of a guitar? Roundwound strings are brighter, while flatwound strings are warmer and more mellow. It was the easiest level. How did you mess that up?"

He turns to Nathan with a smirk, "And you... I didn't expect you to suddenly be finishing games this fast. You started at level 0. Did you actually put in some effort, or did your bastard dad pull some strings for you? Come on, why don't you tell us about what happened at level 6?"

Oh no. He's hitting too close to something that would rather be kept buried. I can almost see the storm brewing in Nathan's eyes, I am sure he is going to just be honest and I definitely can not let this happen.I have to change the topic. Fast.

"What's roundwood? And flatwood?" I blurt out, feigning innocence, hoping to derail the conversation.

"Never mind, explaining to you is like hitting my head on a rock. I wonder if your IQ is in the negatives," Keith says.

I glare at him, clenching my fists. "I'll punch you even harder than Nathan did."

Why did I remind them, shit,i am a dumb girl indeed

Keith chuckles, "Oh please, you can barely reach my face. Are you planning to stand on a chair first?"

I feel my cheeks flush with frustration. "Don't test me," I snap back, "I've got enough energy left for one solid punch, and you're in perfect range."

Keith leans in slightly, "Alright, try it. Just don't cry when you break a nail."

I take a step closer, fists still clenched, "Don't tempt me, Keith. You might just regret it."

Nathan, as usual, completely uninterested in what's happening—or is he just pretending? I can never quite decode him.

"Guys, we have to manage each other until tomorrow, so let's try to avoid any more drama. Let's just pretend we're all on the same team, even though we are—unless you want to get stuck in a perpetual loop of awkwardness," I told them with a wreay smile.

The silence was so thick you could almost touch it, with just the sound of our footsteps.

I glanced at Keith and Nathan, both looking like they were lost in their own thoughts.

"Guys, we can't just walk in silence; it's getting really boring," I said, trying to break the silence.

"Keith, tell me about yourself. I already know a bit about Nathan," I added.

"Oh, so you're trying to get to know me while planning your escape from Mr. Possessive? Nice strategy," Keith replied with a smirk.

"Oh please, and he is not my boyfriend," I reply.

"Fine, I'm Keith Kevinsky, the miracle in every girl's heart and the only handsome guy on campus. I'm always available for you, just a call away, baby." Keith winks.

"And that's why your ex ditched you—because you have a sucky personality," Nathan retorts.

"What about you? You don't even have one. It's unclear if it's because of your cluelessness around women or just your filthy mouth," Keith says, smirking.

"Even if you did have one, did you ever actually care for it?" Nathan snaps back.

Great, they're at it again. Why does this always happen?

"Says the guy who couldn't even look after his own mom, let alone anyone else's!" Keith fires back.
