Kate, completely ignoring my internal chaos, waves him over like we're all old buddies.
"Ohh Rose, my love," he says in that annoyingly perfect accent, eyes locked on me like we're in some old-timey romance drama.
Cue chaos.
Whistles erupt from nearby tables, people start hooting, and every single girl in the room turns into a fire-breathing dragon glaring straight at me like I just stole their wedding date.
I feel my face heat up so fast, I might actually combust.
Seriously shy? What was I even thinking? I feel my face turning fifty shades of embarrassment because of this guy.
I roll my eyes and snap back, "Fine, I know that's the only movie you've worked in—which, surprisingly, turned out to be a hit."
Keith chuckles, clearly unfazed. "Ah, so you have watched it. I knew you were a fan."
"In your dreams."
Kate looks between us with raised brows. "Wait... you guys know each other?"
"Yeah, merely acquaintances," I mutter, folding my arms and avoiding his smirk.
"Acquaintances who roast each other like it's a full-time job," she mumbles under her breath.
Keith just leans in, flashing that dumb, charming smile. "Acquaintance or not, you remembered my movie. That's enough for me."
Ugh. Somebody get me out of here before my cheeks catch fire.
Nathan right now looks exactly like that kid who was lured into a toy store only to be told he's not getting anything. Arms crossed, jaw tight, sulking like someone just stole his thunder—and tossed it right into Keith's perfectly styled hair.
He becomes a whole new level of grumpy every time Keith shows up, like the room isn't big enough for both their egos.
There's definitely some kind of cold war brewing between them—unspoken, but obvious. The tension hangs in the air like static before a lightning strike. No insults yet, but the glares? They're practically dueling swords.
"Keith, I've got a few questions for you—rapid fire," Kate says, stepping closer with a mischievous glint in her eye. "If you answer fast, I'll help you deal with the agencies for a month."
"Six months," Keith counters immediately, flashing that smug actor grin.
"Two," Kate says flatly, arms crossed.
"Six," he pushes back.
Kate narrows her eyes. "Fine. Not yours, not mine—four. Final offer. Take it or leave it."
Keith pretends to mull it over like he's negotiating some million-dollar contract. "Four? Hmph. Only because your negotiation skills terrify me."
"Fine, let's begin the game," Keith says, leaning back, ready for whatever Kate throws at him.
Kate doesn't waste time. "What is your full name?"
"Keith Kavinsky," he replies, without hesitation.
"Who was your co-star in Rose, My Love?" she asks, eyes narrowing.
"Georgette Miley," Keith shoots back, his tone casual, like he's been asked this a hundred times before.
The questions come like bullets, each one quicker than the last. It's a rapid-fire session, no room to breathe or think.
"Right or left?" Kate asks, her voice barely wavering.
"Right," he answers immediately, without even a second's thought.
"Sit or sleep?" Kate asks, her voice light but teasing.
"Sleep," Keith responds immediately, without a second thought, a slight smirk playing at the corner of his lips.
Kate tilts her head, her eyes narrowing playfully as she leans in. "Which color did you get today in the game?"
"Blue," Keith says, almost too quickly.
Kate's grin widens, and she raises an eyebrow. "Ha! Got you! You can never remember anything else, can you? Blue's the only one that sticks with you. I'm sure you don't even know what other colors exist!"
Keith's smile falters for a brief moment, his posture stiffening as he tries to hide the irritation bubbling up. The way she teased him, it felt like she knew exactly where to hit. He clenches his jaw, the game turning from playful banter to something sharper.
"Cheap games you play, just like your brother," Keith quips, flicking Kate's forehead playfully.
Kate's face turns serious, but her eyes glint with mischief. "Fine, let's play in a group, Keith."
Keith shrugs, uninterested. "Nope."
Before Kate can respond, someone dodges me while running, and in a blink, I'm flat on my knees, the impact sharp and humiliating. My heart races with embarrassment as the room falls silent for a second.
Nathan, ever the one to act quickly, rushes towards me. His hand reaches out, pulling me up with surprising gentleness. His eyes meet mine, a mix of concern and something else—was it... care?
"Are you okay?" he asks, his voice soft but intense, as if the question carries more weight than just my fall.
