Audrey's birthday was just a week away now, and she would be 14, but she wasn't excited.
lacy still hadn't woken up, Audrey had never celebrated a birthday without her before.
"lacy lacy! can we please get this?" 7 year old Audrey begged, as she held up a gold charm bracelet, with a pink heart, a purple tulip, and a pale yellow sun.
"here, let me see," lacy said with a smile, joking her hand out.
Audrey handed it to her gentle, looking up at her aunt with hopeful eyes.
it was to much for a simple charm bracelet, and lacy was a young single mother of two, struggling to keep her head above water.
"uhm- no sweetie, i'm sorry." lacy said, it broke her heart to tell either of her girls no, but she knew grocery were more important then a bracelet.
"oh, okay," she said, letting her head hang low.
a month later it was audrey's 8th birthday, and she had not asked for any gifts.
all she wanted was mac and cheese, and strawberry ice cream.
but lacy was determined to make her birthday special.
she worked overtime, at both of her jobs. the girls were at school, and then Quincy's house everyday, as their house was empty.
and finally, lacy worked up just enough money to buy her mac and cheese, strawberry ice cream, and the gold charm bracelet she had wanted so desperately.
"how was your mac and cheese?" lacy asked with a smile, "so yummy," Audrey replied, cheese still on her face.
"can we please have ice cream now?" she asked.
"yes, but first," lacy said as she stood from the table, walking to her bedroom and back, with a small pink box in hand, sealed with a white ribbon.
"why don't you open this, hm?" lacy said sitting back at the table, handing her niece the box.
audrey's face lit up as she took the the box, eye wide in excitement.
she pulled the ribbon, letting it unravel. she carefully opened the box, taking the lid off slowly.
"i- i thought you said we couldn't get it," she said, grinning ear to ear as she took it out of the box.
"ah i was just messing with you!" lacy lied.
"here let me put in on you," Audrey handed her the bracelet carefully.lacy wrapped the gold chain around her wrist, clasping it together. "it's a bit loose but you'll grow into it," lacy shrugged.
"Audrey!" cho exclaimed, "i'm talking to you,"
"what- oh i'm sorry cho," Audrey said finally pulling her self back into reality, playing with golden charm bracelet.
"it's okay Aud," ginny said, "we need to plan your party, you only have one birthday a year!" cho said.
Ginny, cho, Audrey, and luna were in Audrey and luna's dorm, ginny and cho had decided to plan Audrey a party.
"all we really need from you is a guest list, and maybe some food you want, yeah?" ginny said.
ginny was one of the only people to ever be able to read Audrey, and she had always taken her feelings into account.
"you three obviously, neville, the twins, Ron, harry, Hermione," she said.
"what about dean?" cho asked, brows knitting together. "i guess, yeah,"
"okay okay," cho said, writing everyone's names down. "and food?"
"mac and cheese and strawberry ice cream."
