it was Wednesday, two days from Audrey's birthday, and lacy still hadn't woken up.

it was eating her, but she knew lacy would still want her to enjoy her birthday.

isa and Audrey had been writing back and forth, she knew isa needed her.

Audrey was getting ready for breakfast and classes, pulling her dirty hair into a slick back ponytail.

"i love your hair like that," luna said airy, sitting on her own bed as she admired her friend. "you can see all of your face, there's something so beautiful about all of your features together."

"lun-" Audrey began to answer, grinning widely, but was interrupted by a knock on the door.

"i'll get it!" luna said happily as Audrey tied her hair up.

"a gift for miss Audrey hammond!" said a squeaky voice, "thank you sir," luna replied taking the gift of out the house elf's small hands.

"sir..." he muttered, smiling wide.

"who's it from?" Audrey asked as she walked towards the door, "a mister dean Thomas ma'am!"

"thank you very much," she said placed a sickle in his small hand.

he looked up at Audrey, tears of pure joy forming in his eyes before walking away with a nod.

luna handed Audrey the wrapped present, watching her read the label.

"sorry i was an asshole"

Audrey ripped the wrapping paper off the gift, revealing a book.

luna and Audrey were walking to their first class of the day, when they were interrupted.

"Audrey!" said dean, running to catch up with the two girls. "hey!"

"hi," Audrey replied, looking the boy up and down.

"could we talk in private please?" he asked, panting lightly from the running.

"yeah sure, i'll meet you there luns" she said, as dean took her wrist, pulling her into a empty corridor.

"did you get my gift?" he asked, letting go of her wrist.

"uh yeah i did, you know you can't just buy me a book and everything will be okay, right?" she said, anger bubbling in her chest.

"oh, uhm yeah i know, that's why i wanted to talk," his face flushed a deep red, "i'm really sorry Audrey, i had no idea what happened to lacy."

"i understand that, but you still have no right to demand i tell you where i went." she said.

she wasn't trying to be mean, but she knew she needed to be firm with him to get her point across

" i know i know, i didn't mean to love." he said, gently grabbing her hands. " i'm sorry,"

she sighed, and thought for a moment.

"it's okay, i forgive you." she said quietly, not entirely sure if she wanted to continue hanging out with dean.

"thank you," he smiled at her, happy with himself.
"i'll see you Friday, okay?"

"yeah, okay," and with that dean walked away, presumably to class.

"what book did he buy you?" Ron said from behind her, appearing out of thin air, making Audrey jump

"creep!" she exclaimed, turning around. "that didn't answer my question," he said, towering over her.

"quidditch 101, having fun eavesdropping?" she asked, looking up at him.

"ah, makes sense why you were so disappointed, ginny got you that for your birthday last year."
he smirked, starting to walk away.

"i- how do you remember that?" she asked brows knitted together, this made him stop dead in his tracks.

"th- that is not the point," he said, his cheeks turning pink, the random confidence he had just a moment ago disappeared.

"uh huh," she smirked, realizing the situation was now in her control.

"whatever i have class," he said, trying to leave again.

"right right, yeah let me know when you wanna spy on me again, creep."
