"you will stay here till eight," Snape explained, "and then you will be released for dinner."
it was only six, which meant Audrey would be locked in a room with a girl who wanted to kill her, and a boy who may or may not be in love with her.
what could go wrong?
Audrey avoided making eye contact with her as the three walked to the shelves of cauldrons Snape had pointed to.
he had left them with rags, and a bucket of water.
Audrey only ever cleaned things by hand at home, she always had magic to do it.
"what if you two clean the cauldrons and i clean the tubes, since the cauldrons are bigger." Harrison said completely out of the blue.
Audrey looked to the other side of the room, where the dirty test tubes were and saw that there was only nine or ten.
whereas the cauldrons were large, and there was multiple rows of them.
"nice try," Audrey spat, "your cleaning the cauldrons."
Harrison nodded signally that she understood, and decided it was best not to speak.
the three wet they're rags, and began to clean the gunk from the bottom of the cauldrons.
"so," Ron whispered close to Audrey's ear. "if you and dean are broken up, who are you going to the ball with?"
"well, we're not exactly broken up." she said, washing the color drain from Ron's face.
"i thought you said it was over?" he muttered, this just ruined his plan.
"it basically is, but it's not official." she said as she dunked her rag into the water.
"oh, so you are going to the ball together?" he asked, not even attempting to whisper anymore.
"well, yeah." she shrugged, "why, who are you going with?"
"nothing- no one, don't worry about it." he said as he put his now clean cauldron back.
"i'm just gonna go clean the tubes," he muttered as he walked away, leaving the girls alone.
how could he do that? how could he leave Audrey with Harrison? he'd said he'd be there.
"oh so he can clean the tubes, hm." she muttered, picking up another cauldron.
"what was that?" Audrey spat, pausing to finally look at the girl.
Audrey wished she could just shit talked, and say that Harrison was some ugly hag.
but she wasn't, and that was clear.
it was obvious why dean liked her, Audrey and Harrison looked oddly similar.
she had long brown hair, brown eyes, and pink plump lips, just like Audrey.
"nothing," she whispered, looking bad to her cauldron.
"hm," she hummed, finishing her third cauldron.
less then ten minutes later, Ron was back from cleaning the rest tubes.
but he didn't speak to her, he simply dunked his rag back into the water and began cleaning another cauldron.
Audrey didn't understand why he was upset with her, she never said they broke up.
it had been an hour, and they were making pretty good progress.
they still had another thirty minutes of cleaning left, but Audrey didn't really think they would need it.
they had about ten or eleven cauldrons left, and with three people that would not take thirty minutes.
"so," Ron whispered, making Audrey's head fly up.
"you really don't remember anything from last night?" Ron asked again.
Audrey assumed he was talking about his almost confession, and they're almost kiss.
but he wasn't, he was talking about Audrey coming to him in tears.
"i remember drinking, and smoking with everyone, but other then that, no i don't remember," she shrugged, finishing off another cauldron.
"why, did something important happen?" she said, trying to get him to confess again.
Ron thought about telling her about dean, but decided to not medal, and that he would let it play out.
"no, i guess not."
