EVERYONE WAS IN in a blue-lit room.

Delores stood anxiously next to Five, as Reginald prepared the machines for the first go— the second go would be Delores's turn.

She felt like she could vomit from the anticipation.

Luther, Diego, and Allison were all sitting in these chairs that leaned backward and had metal bars in a circle around the sides of them, along with a large bowl-shaped metal thing hanging over the top of the seats.

Reginald stepped over and fixed the wires on the side of Luther's seat, before adjusting the belt buckle around him.

"Just lean back and relax, Luther." Reginald tried to reassure, as he pulled two metal plates at the sides of his head.

"Yeah, right." Luther scoffed, as Reginald walked over to secure Allison's seat.

"Do we all have to do this?" Allison asked, "Can't you just do it to one of us?" she asked in a nervous voice.

"Fragments of your original memories are still locked away in your minds." Reginald began to explain, "They are all integral pieces of a bigger puzzle." he said, before immediately pulling the plates beside her head.

Viktor then stepped forward, "Um," he began hesitantly, "I wanna be connected too." he said.

"But," Luther spoke up, "you weren't on the mission."

"I wasn't on the team then," Viktor's voice was quiet, "but I am now." he shrugged, his voice nervous, "and I wanna know the truth as much as you do."

"Excellent." Reginald said, "Please take a seat." he gestured to one of the odd-looking chairs.

Viktor sent him a short awkward nod, before walking over to the chairs in the room, and Reginald took a step closer to Lila.

"How about you?" the older man asked, and she gave him a weird look.

"Yeah, I think I'm going to spectate," Lila said, slowly pacing her words, nodding.

"Ditto." Five said, and Delores looked over at him with furrowed eyebrows.

"Who the hell says 'ditto' anymore?" Delores asked, and he just glanced at her with a scoff, then looked back at his father.
