PHOENIX TOOK THE elevator up to her room. The machine she was in dinged once it hit her floor. She carefully waited for the doors to open, then walked out into a hallway— that looked the same as every other part of the hotel.
'Whoosh'
Phoenix didn't want to turn around— but she did. There he was— Five, one of the last people she wanted to see right now. She let out an annoyed sigh at the sight of him.
"What?" Phoenix asked in an annoyed tone, irritated just at the presence of the boy.
"What's wrong?" he asked— almost annoyed that he had to—his tone seeping with irritation, and his gaze resting to avoid her to the best of his ability.
Phoenix scoffed, "Like you care." she rolled her eyes at his question, wanting to just go in her room and lay down.
The metal keys sat her pocket, await her to unlock the door to her new— temporary— home.
"I don't," he scoffed, "but your mood is making everyone else's act up." Five seethed, stepping closer— wanting Phoenix to answer him correctly.
Phoenix was going to step back— but then she realized she didn't care, she was going to stand her ground, and not even react. Not wanting to give him the satisfaction.
"Ok, I'll stop." she in a sarcastic tone, rolling her eyes at his poorly worded command— why was she going to listen to a stupid kid?
"Good, now that that's settled," Five started, causing Phoenix to let out an annoyed huff as he continued, "Why are you here?"
"I needed a vacation." Phoenix shrugged off the question, trying to dismiss the entire conversation.
"From where?" the boy asked, still trying to get a— not so vague answer— from her.
"Family." Phoenix scoffed at her own words, "If I can even call them that." she mumbled slightly to herself, but loud enough that Five heard, then let out a scoff.
"What really happened?" Five pressed, almost as if he genuinely thought she was their spy.
"Nothing," Phoenix lied, trying to make her words sound genuine.
