FIVE WASN'T ASLEEP. He just had his eyes closed— it temporarily stopped the burning.
Delores was asleep. Five kept glancing at her to make sure she was alright.
Delores's head was leaned against the car door— the windows now replaced with tarps from the gas station they stopped at. They also cleaned the nasty car.
Lila was practically lying on top of Delores, her head on her shoulder, and arms wrapped around Delores. Klaus was leaning on the door by his seat— not wanting to be around the sick women next to him.
Diego kept slapping himself to stay away, his eyes occasionally drooping from sleep.
"I think she's cheating on me," Diego muttered in a soft tone, glancing at Lila, then over to Five, before looking out on the road again.
Five opened his eyes slowly and turned his head to look at his brother with furrowed eyebrows, glancing at Lila and Delores, then back to his brother.
"Lila." Diego said— as if Five didn't know who he was talking about, "She goes places at night." he paused, then looked at Five, "She goes places, and she lies about it." he whispered.
Five didn't reply, as he shook some hair out of his face, "You know," his voice was slightly raspy from not speaking— plus he was half asleep, "she's got that book club." he lied for his sister-in-law.
"Yeah, what is it?" Five could tell Diego was really worked up about it, "A book club of two, Five?" he asked, and Five furrowed his eyebrows again, looking over at Diego.
"What are you talking about?" he asked, his voice almost a whisper— not wanting to wake anyone in the car.
"Last night I followed her," Diego informed.
Oh.
"She was in some café with some guy." Diego told Five, looking over at him, then back to the road "Some Greek-looking son of a bitch with a creepy mustache."
Five's face scrunched at his choice of words, "Are you sure there wasn't anyone there?" Five asked, knowing Delores was sitting right next to him in that café, "The mustache was creepy?" he asked, kind of hurt.
