BEING A NICE and sunny day, Delores decided to take a walk. Somehow Ash ended up tagging along, as they walked on the pavement.
The breeze was nice and cool, a relief for the sun that blazed over them, causing Delores's skin to burn just a tad. The trees allowed some shade for the two, but occasionally a beam of sun would strike through the leaves.
Looking off into the distance, Delores sees three men who look like brothers playing frisbee, while a man and a woman place some board game on a lunch table.
Delores took a deep breath in, taking in the moment, the fresh air giving her some peace of mind- the day seemed... normal.
"Where's Max?" Ash asks Delores, who is snapped from her small trance, causing her to glance over at Ash- who seems like he regrets wearing a sweater.
Delores hums in response, looking ahead of her, "At work." she informs the whereabouts of her husband, stuffing her hands into her pockets.
"He's always at work." Ash rolls his eyes, letting out a small laugh, "You two good? I mean, I heard that marriage changes people or something."
Delores glances at him with a 'really?' look, "We're fine." she rolls her eyes, before sighing and tilting her head away from Ash.
"That sigh really says otherwise." Ash raises an eyebrow, his gaze eyeing Delores as they walk through the park, seeing a large family running around with bubble wands.
Delores watches the children who are in bliss, not immediately responding to Ash.
"I mean, we are fine." Delores glances at him, before sighing and looking ahead of them, "I'm pregnant." she admits, and Ash's face begins to contort with shock, and he immediately stops his trek.
"You're what?" he asks, and Delores slowly stops walking, before looking over her shoulder at Ash, and shrugging.
"Yeah, I just haven't told him yet." she shrugs, "I think I'm going to when he gets home." Delores lets out a small laugh at Ash's expression.
"And he's okay with that?" Ash asks- knowing Max probably would be ecstatic, but still, it's a big topic.
Delores sends him another one of those looks, "You sure you've met my husband?" she lets out a small laugh, as Ash takes a few steps closer, standing at her side.
Ash just eyes Delores before putting a hand on her shoulder, "Y'know, the name Ash can be a girl's name or a boy's name." he grins at Delores.
A laugh leaves her lips as she shoves his hand off of her, "Oh, in your dreams I'll name my kid after you." she rolls her eyes with a small smile.
"Fine." Ash scoffed in a faux annoyed tone, "What do you have in mind?" he asked, and Delores shrugged, looking around at the park that buzzed with life.
"Well, last year Max's two brothers passed away, so I was thinking maybe one of their names." she explained, "But there was this guy he knew for a bit and his name was Elliot, and I like that name."
Ash nodded, "But what if it's a girl?" he asked, and Delores looked down at her shoes before her gaze slowly moved to the bottom of a tree trunk.
Right beautiful Marigolds looked golden in the light of the sun, seeming at peace with being placed where they were together.
Delores's gaze moves back up to Ash, "I'm not sure yet." she says honestly, "Only boy names have been coming to my mind."
