The Wolf Within

Aurora thought to herself, ' I have to say, this guy is commanding and carries an aura with him, and he's so tall-compared to him, I must look like a child. '

" I... " Before she could say anything, Edwin suddenly appears from behind, giving her a sense of relief.

Respectfully, Edwin said to the guy, "Uh, Alex, this is my... friend."

Alex responded with an "Oh," relaxing his demeanor a bit. "Then it's fine."

" By the way, " Now with a playful smile, he looked at Edwin and said, "Just a friend, huh?"

Edwin throws a meaningful glance at him before reassuring Aurora, "Aurora, this is Alex, a very good friend of mine. You don't need to be afraid of him. He's a good guy."

Aurora, feeling more at ease, extends her polite greeting, "Nice to meet you, Alex."

Alex replied, "Same here."

"But Aurora, may I ask what you're doing here?" His eyes then shift toward Edwin, "And that too, alone?"

Before Aurora can respond, Edwin steps in and says, "It's my fault. It's my mistake that I left her alone."

Aurora, taken aback by his apology, immediately jumps in, her voice flustered. "No, no, why are you apologizing? I came here on my own-"
But before she can finish, Alex interrupts her.

"Listen, guys," Alex's voice deepens with concern, "whatever the reason may be, coming here, especially into the jungle at night, has become dangerous. You know that very well, Edwin. You're aware of the situation here, yet-"

Before Alex could finish, Edwin apologized again, "I understand. I should've been more careful, but don't worry, this won't happen again. I'll make sure of it."

Alex steps closer, placing a firm hand on Edwin's shoulder. His gaze softens slightly, but his tone remains firm. "I know you'll do your best. I'm well aware of how brave, smart, and capable you are. That's why I don't want you to lose what you've found." His eyes shift toward Aurora, and with a subtle glance, he emphasizes, "That precious thing."

A brief, heavy silence follows, as both men exchange a look of mutual understanding.

"Of course," Edwin says, turning toward Aurora, "I promise that Aurora won't come here again."

Aurora, who had been listening quietly, her confusion mounting, suddenly interrupts. Her voice rises in surprise, "Excuse me?" Her eyes widen as she looks between the two of them. "What is going on? Are you guys talking about me?"

"And, and why are you both only talking about me? You two are also here in the dark, aren't you? What were you both doing here? And why can't I understand anything about what you two are discussing?"

Alex turned to Edwin, his brows furrowing in concern. "You haven't told her yet?"

Edwin, looking slightly uncomfortable, shook his head. "No."

Alex pressed further, "Why not?"

Edwin hesitated, his eyes briefly darting to Aurora before he let out a quiet sigh. "So, you think she'll accept me that easily?"

Alex leaned in slightly, his tone softening, but the urgency was still there. "But you can't hide this from her forever either!"

Edwin glanced at the ground, then back at Alex, finally giving in with a reluctant, "Alright."

At this point, Aurora couldn't hold back any longer. "What, what are you two talking about? Is this about me?"

Her words seemed to snap Edwin out of his indecision. He straightened up, his expression turning calm but resolute. "I'll tell you everything," he said, his voice low but reassuring. "But not here."

He took a step closer, his eyes meeting hers. "For now, let's leave this place."

Aurora hesitated, feeling a mix of curiosity and apprehension, but she nodded.

Then Edwin started leading Aurora out of the jungle, while Alex didn't accompany them. Instead, he walked deeper into the jungle. Aurora had many questions in her mind, and as they were leaving, she kept asking, "What's going on? And why did your friend go further into the jungle instead of coming out with us? Didn't he himself say it was dangerous?" She asked several questions, but Edwin only kept saying one thing-that he would answer all her questions after they got out of the jungle and found a calm, safe place.

After they finally made it out of the jungle, while walking towards her house, they walked to Aurora's house. Once inside, she demanded, "Now that we're out of the jungle, will you finally answer my questions?"

"What was all that? I only went there because I saw a wolf-" Before she could finish her sentence, Edwin interrupted and confessed, "I'm a werewolf."

"...... " Aurora stood there, speechless.

"You're joking, right?" She laughed, "Look, I'm really not in the mood for jokes right now! I want answers to my questions!"

"You keep telling me not to go here, not to go there, but you were in the jungle yourself with your friend, talking about God knows what-" Before she could continue, something unexpected happened.

Suddenly, Edwin transformed into his werewolf form, his clothes tearing apart as he shifted!

As Edwin's body morphed into his werewolf form, his limbs stretched and thickened, his clothes shredding into tatters, exposing thick, dark brown fur. His hands transformed into clawed paws, and his face elongated into a fierce, wolf-like snout. The once familiar face of Edwin was now something wild, untamed, yet eerily recognizable.

The scene was unbelievable, and it was fortunate that it happened inside the house. Had it occurred outside, there would have been chaos. Aurora couldn't believe what her eyes were seeing.

Aurora's breath caught in her throat, her wide eyes reflecting the terrifying, yet awe-inspiring transformation.

The room was filled with a tense silence as she stumbled backward, her hand instinctively covering her mouth, trying to process the scene. The air felt heavy, almost suffocating, as she whispered, "How... how is this real?"

With a terrified expression, she whispered, "No, no! How is this possible?"

Though Aurora was clearly frightened, there was no fear in her heart that this werewolf would harm her.

Without a word, Edwin turned, his large, muscular form brushing past the doorway, leaving behind a strange mix of relief and confusion. He paused briefly before stepping into the night, casting one final glance back at Aurora-a fleeting look that held a thousand unspoken words.

And then he was gone.

Aurora stood there, frozen, unable to say a word, just watching him leave as if she were a statue. Her legs refusing to move, her mind racing yet frozen in shock. She could only stand there, staring at the empty doorway, her thoughts a whirlwind of disbelief, fear, and... curiosity.

She wasn't sure what to think anymore.
