Another Chaos
Edwin chuckled, his eyes sparkling with pride for her. "Of course they did. You’re one of us now."
“This is a pretty normal thing, Edwin?” Aurora said softly, her eyes glimmering as she spoke. “Even if a werewolf’s mate is human, the whole pack still accepts them? It’s been that way since ancient times, really? Has no one opposed this? Not even a single one? Ever?"
Edwin said, “Yes, but still, I told you that it’s not that common for a werewolf to have a human mate.”
Aurora after a pause, “ Still... I thought... maybe some wouldn’t like me as much?”
Aurora reached out, her hand warm as it covered his. “But even though I wasn’t that sure but.... I wanted to show them that I’m here, committed with you. ” Her voice was gentle yet determined.
A faint smile played on Edwin’s lips, softening his expression. “Don’t worry about it, Aurora,” he replied, confidence returning to his gaze. “Everyone will accept you because you’re my mate.” His words were strong, steady, a promise of his unwavering loyalty.
Aurora’s face broke into a playful grin. “Really?” she teased, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
With a smirk, Edwin also leaned closer. “Yes,” he replied, voice low and mischievous.
And with that, their playful banter started once again, as another day passed in their lives together.
The morning sun cast a warm glow over the small café as she walked in, but the cheerful atmosphere was quickly overshadowed by a sense of unease. A group of townspeople had gathered inside, their expressions a mix of concern and frustration. The usual clinking of coffee cups and soft chatter was replaced by urgent whispers and anxious faces.
Mrs. Henderson, a familiar face and regular customer, stood at the center of the commotion, her hands animatedly gesturing as she recounted the latest incident. “Another incident happened!” she exclaimed, her voice trembling with emotion.
“Someone destroyed Mr. Jimmy’s land last night! This is getting out of hand?!”
Her friends, seated nearby, exchanged worried glances and nodded in agreement. “Yes, he was telling me about it too,” one of them chimed in, her brow furrowed with concern.
“The damage to his property was significant,” another added, shaking her head. “But thankfully, nothing was taken from the house.”
A third person piped up, “Who knows what’s happening in our town these days?”
The gravity of the situation hung heavily in the air, as uncertainty loomed over the community.
Just then, Lilly entered, her brow creased with worry as she approached her.
“Did you hear about the attack on Mr. Jimmy’s land?” she asked, her voice low and urgent. “First, we had those sudden curfews, then the incident here at your café, and now it’s spreading to other places!”
Her voice edged with concern, spoke up, “It’s getting worse. People are scared now. I don’t know what’s going on. The police aren’t telling us anything clearly either.”
Aurora in her head, ' I wish I could tell you that all of this is the work of those bad Ravenwood werewolves! '
Instead Aurora said, attempting to lighten the mood. “Yeah, I heard. It’s terrible, but everyone is doing their part! The officers are busy with their work.”
Lilly leaned closer, lowering her voice conspiratorially, as if sharing a secret.
“By the way... something’s been on my mind. Could this be the work of some wild animal? I mean, if nothing was stolen from that Mr Jimmy's house, then what’s the point of just causing damage, right? It could be the work of a wild animal.” Her brow furrowed, a thoughtful look crossing her face as she considered the implications of her words.
Aurora chimed in, “Could it be what you were saying?”
Lilly, “You mentioned seeing a wolf in the woods a few days ago, is it related?”
Aurora swallowed hard, her mind racing. “I don’t know?"
" Anything could be happening, but why are you overthinking it? The officers are there to figure all this out.” She tried to project confidence, yet the uncertainty gnawed at her.
“We just need to stay alert, okay." Cutting that conversation she said.
And both of them returned to their tasks, the sounds of the café muted under the weight of their worries. In between sips of coffee and quiet murmurs, she discreetly messaged Edwin, her heart racing. Was he okay? What did the attack on Mr. Jimmy's property mean? The questions raced through her mind, and she couldn't shake the sense that something ominous was brewing just beneath the surface of their quiet town.
Edwin messaged her, explaining that they had been caught by some Ravenwood werewolves while gathering evidence, and a fight broke out among them. In the chaos, they accidentally wandered onto Mr. Jimmy’s property, and that’s how the incident occurred. Unfortunately, the evidence they had managed to collect was ruined in the process.
After her shift, Aurora decided to visit Edwin again. She needed to know what would happen next and what she should do!!
Aurora's heart raced as she walked into Edwin's office, a mix of excitement and anxiety swirling within her. The atmosphere in the office was bustling, with the hum of conversations and the clatter of keyboards filling the air. She felt a sense of determination as she pushed through the door, eager to uncover more about the strange incidents plaguing their town and to see Edwin again.
As she entered, she spotted Edwin engaged in a discussion with a few employees, his expression focused yet relaxed. He seemed completely at ease in his role, exuding confidence that both reassured and captivated her. Aurora couldn’t help but admire how well he carried himself amidst the hustle and bustle of the workplace.
Not wanting to interrupt, she quietly made her way to a nearby seat. When Edwin caught sight of her, a warm smile broke across his face. He wrapped up his conversation quickly, gesturing for her to join him. The inviting smile he flashed her made her feel welcome and appreciated.
After finishing his talk, he settled down beside her, creating a bubble of intimacy amid the professional environment.
Aurora felt a rush of warmth as he leaned in, planting a soft kiss on her cheek, which made her heart flutter.
“Hey, baby, are you so desperate to see me that you came to meet me after just half an hour of messaging?” he teased, his playful tone brightening the moment.
Aurora couldn’t help but smile at his lightheartedness, despite the weight of the situation they were facing. “Tch!” she laughed, shaking her head in mock disapproval.
“Stop it!”
