Mates

Aurora, of course, tries to escape in fear, but before she can make it far, Edwin's strong grip catches her by the waist with his large hands.

He pulls her close, his right hand firmly wrapped around her waist, drawing her closer as he murmurs in a low, dangerous voice, "Don’t ever try to reject me, or else... I might do something you won’t want to see."

For a moment, Aurora's gaze is lost in the depths of his intense blue eyes, but in the next instant, she snaps back to reality and starts to struggle, desperately trying to free herself from his hands.

Edwin pulls her even closer, just inches away from her lips, his voice softer but filled with intent, "I only want to talk for a bit, then I’ll leave, okay?"

"Okay. Okay," Aurora says, realizing that for now, this is the only way out. "Now let me go."

Finally, he releases her, and the two sit apart, silently choosing different couches. Aurora, still shaken, turns off the TV that had been playing in the background, cutting through the tension-filled silence.

In this scene, Edwin is the first to break the heavy silence. His voice is calm yet firm, trying to reassure her.

"I know you must have a lot of questions," he begins, his tone attempting to soften the tension, "but trust me, I'll answer all of them."

He pauses, inviting her to speak, but Aurora remains frozen in her thoughts.

Inside, her mind races, emotions swirling as she reflects on what just happened.

'What should I say now? He grabbed me by the waist and pulled me so close... My heart is still racing! I’ve never even held a boy’s hand before, and now this…! '

Seeing her silent, Edwin eyes soften, a hint of sadness reflected in his smile and finally speaks on his own, "Alright," he says, a resigned calmness in his voice, "I'll start explaining myself."

"As you already know, I’m a werewolf. We are a species that can transform into wolves at will. And I’m not the only one, there are many more werewolves like me all over the world.

We all live in groups called wearwolf packs. Each pack has its own name and territory. In every pack, the Alpha stands at the top. The Alpha is the leader, the one in charge of everyone. You can think of them as the king.

Next is the Luna, the queen of the pack, and the Alpha’s partner. They are just as important, often guiding the pack alongside the Alpha.

Then there’s the Beta, who is second-in-command, directly below the Alpha. If anything happens to the Alpha, the Beta takes over. And finally, there's the Gamma, the third in line, who helps maintain order.

The most important part of the pack is all its werewolves, which is like its kingdom. These positions are created so that they can protect all the werewolves/the kingdom in any situation. If there’s a kingdom, then there’s a king, and that’s why the most important thing is our pack each remembers — our strength! "

Aurora quietly listened to all of this.

Seeing her reaction, Edwin gently asked, "You understand, right?"

Aurora's brow furrows as she gathers her thoughts, finally mustering the courage to respond. “And why are you telling me all of this?”

Edwin’s expression shifts slightly, a hint of seriousness washing over his face as he prepares to reveal something significant. “I was just getting to that,”

He replies, emphasizing the importance of what he’s about to say. “Be ready for it.”

His words hang in the air, creating a sense of tension and intrigue.

"Look," he begins, his voice lowering slightly, "when it comes to mating or finding a partner, our goddess—the Moon Goddess—creates our destined mate and sends them to us. Once we reach legal age, meaning 18 years old, any werewolf becomes capable of finding their mate.”

"When a werewolf sees their mate for the first time, they instantly know that this is their destined partner, just as the Moon Goddess created them for each other. Once they find each other, the two mates can not stay apart for long unless they imprint each other. If they remain distant without imprinting, they will always feel physically distracted and will often find themselves drawn back to their mate. They won’t be able to control themselves."

Aurora thinks, ' This... all of this is exactly what I read in that book. It was actually 100% true?! '

"And you know," Edwin continues, "when one mate rejects another, it causes immense pain, especially emotionally and mentally."

Finally she asks, "Okay... so what does that have to do with me?"

Edwin's gaze was fierce and unwavering as he declared, "Aurora, because you are my mate."

" ....... "

Aurora, " Huh?!!"

"How?! I... with a wolf??" she stammered, disbelief clouding her thoughts.

Aurora had managed to digest most of what Edwin had told her about the werewolf world because, fortunately, she had read quite a bit about it in books from the library.

However, she never expected him to say that he was her mate.

"I know it's hard," Edwin replied, his voice steady and reassuring. "But it's the truth, Aurora."

He took a step closer, trying to bridge the gap between them, hoping to instill some sense of understanding in her.

Still overwhelmed, Aurora stood up abruptly, her body tense with confusion and fear. "No... there must be some misunderstanding!"

Her voice wavered, revealing her struggle to accept such a staggering revelation.

"Aurora," Edwin insisted, rising to meet her gaze with equal intensity. "A werewolf can never be wrong about recognizing their mate, never."

"But I—" Aurora began, her heart racing as she tried to voice her feelings.

"I’m just a normal human, and you—"

She trailed off, unable to finish her thought, caught in the whirlwind of emotions and the impossible reality before her.

Noticing her disbelief, Edwin stepped closer and gently grabbed her shoulders, grounding her. "Listen, Aurora! Calm down."

" No! "
