A Close Proposal?

The following days were marked by increased tension and vigilance in Moonbridge. The Ravenwood werewolf's presence loomed over the town, casting a shadow of uncertainty. Amidst the chaos, Aurora's resolve to support Edwin only grew stronger.

One quiet afternoon, Aurora found herself at the café, wiping down the counter, though her mind was far from her task. Her movements were slow, her gaze distant, as thoughts of Edwin and his pack weighed heavily on her heart.

Lily, who had been watching her with growing concern, finally approached, her voice soft yet caring.

“Aurora, you’ve been really off lately,” Lily said, resting a gentle hand on her shoulder. “Are you sure everything’s okay?”

Aurora paused, setting down the cloth with a sigh. “It’s just... complicated,” she admitted, casting a brief glance at Lily.

“There’s a lot happening right now, things I can’t really explain. But it’s serious.”

Lily squeezed her shoulder reassuringly.

“Whatever it is, you don’t have to face it alone. We’re all here for you.”

Aurora gave a faint smile, grateful for her friend’s support. “Thanks, Lily. That means a lot.”

But deep down, Aurora knew the truth about the werewolves was something she couldn’t reveal to anyone outside the pack.

As if on cue, the café door opened with a soft chime, and Edwin stepped inside. His eyes immediately found Aurora’s, a flicker of relief crossing his face.

Aurora’s heart lifted slightly, and she greeted him with a warm smile, her voice tinged with a mix of worry and affection. “Hi.”

Lily chimed in with a friendly smile, “Hi, Edwin.”

Edwin nodded, his tone courteous but sincere. “How are you, Lily?”

“I’m fine, but I don’t understand something,” she said, crossing her arms with a raised eyebrow.

“Ever since you came into her life, my friend’s been so... distant. Why is that?”

Edwin blinked in surprise, a slight grin playing on his lips. “Huh?”

He replied, laughing slightly at her mock-interrogative tone. “What do you think I did?”

Lily narrowed her eyes. “Go on—what did you do?”

Edwin chuckled, leaning back casually. “I wish I were just a normal guy,” he joked with a half-smile, glancing at Aurora.

“Then maybe your friend wouldn’t have so much to worry about.”

Lily tilted her head, genuinely intrigued now.

“What do you mean, if you were a normal guy?”

“Oh, nothing,” Edwin replied, letting out a soft laugh.

“It’s just… I’m not exactly a regular guy. I’m handsome, rich, and, well, plenty of girls have a crush on me. So your friend here,” he said, gesturing toward Aurora with a grin, “can’t help but worry a little. You know, just in case anyone tries to steal me away.”

Lily scoffed, giving him a playful nudge.

“Please! You’re not that special. Sure, you’re handsome, tall, and rich, but don’t forget that my friend here is a catch, too. She’s beautiful, genuine, and, most importantly, she’s with you for who you are—not what you have.”

Edwin looked at Aurora, warmth in his eyes, and nodded.

“That’s true,” he admitted, his gaze lingering on her. Aurora laughed, her cheeks tinged pink, her shyness melting into a smile.

Lily rolled her eyes, stepping back.

“Alright, alright,” she said with a smirk. “I’ll leave you two lovebirds alone. Looks like you need some privacy.”

She walked away, giving them space.

As silence settled between them, Edwin turned to Aurora, his expression softening.

“I’m sorry, baby,” he said, his voice low and genuine. “Honestly, if I were just a normal guy like any other, things would be so much simpler. I’d be able to give you the time, attention, and care you deserve.”

Aurora reached for his hand, her voice warm with reassurance.

“Edwin, don’t say that. We are who we are, and we can’t control that. I wouldn’t change a thing.”

"And why should you feel ashamed of who you are?" she began, her voice steady and full of warmth.

“I’m an orphan too, I don’t have anyone in this world either. For so long, I used to feel so alone because of it, but… look at where I am now! I have you—an amazing partner. Your pack has accepted me, and I have a wonderful friend like Lily. In this town, people know and care about me. That’s what truly matters, right?”

Edwin’s expression softened as he pulled her into a warm hug, wrapping her in his arms, as if he wanted to shield her from any loneliness.

As they parted, Edwin looked at her with a thoughtful expression.

“By the way, are you almost done here?”

Aurora glanced around at the empty café. “Yeah, there aren’t any customers left. I was just about to close up and head out.”

“Perfect,” he said, hesitating for a moment before he continued, his tone casual but with a hint of nervousness.

“Actually, I’ve been thinking about something for a few days. How would you feel about us… living together?”

“Huh?” Aurora’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. “You mean…?"

He smiled, nodding, his voice teasing.

“I mean… Every night, after a long day, I miss you, but I can’t come over because I have to be up early. And it just ends up being calls and video chats with you.”

With a smirk, he leaned in slightly. “And I never get enough time to be... well, close to you.”

Aurora’s cheeks flushed as she processed his words, a mix of excitement and nervousness bubbling up.

“So… what exactly are you saying?”

Edwin grinned, looking at her with a mix of playfulness and sincerity.

“I’m saying… why don’t you move in with me?”

Aurora blinked, taken aback, her cheeks turning a deeper shade of red. “Wait, are you serious?"

" Where did this come from?”

Edwin chuckled, running a hand through his hair. “Well, I thought about it."

" I could move into your place, but your place is pretty far from my work and the pack house. Plus,” he added with a grin, “I don’t think I’d even fit on that little single bed of yours. So it just makes sense for you to move into my place instead.”

Aurora’s heart raced, his words catching her completely off guard. She blushed deeply, looking down with a shy smile.

“You… and this idea, all of a sudden...?”
