Proposal? A Tease?

“Aurora, look,” Alpha Alex  began, his voice firm yet calm, “our werewolf community isn’t just a group of packs. It’s a global network that connects all the smaller werewolf packs. This way, when there’s a need, everyone can step up to support and help one another.”

Aurora tilted her head, her curiosity piqued.

“So, you’re saying all the packs are part of this larger community?”

“Exactly,” Alex nodded. “But naturally, to keep everyone unified, there are rules and regulations. For instance, no pack can attack another over territory disputes. And if they do, they must prove to the entire community that the other pack was at fault, causing harm first.”

He paused, letting the weight of his words sink in before continuing.

“Like we did with the Ravenwood pack. We’ve already proven our case against them. Since we suffered losses, the entire community has a duty to help us recover. The compensation can be anything—money, resources, or support. But usually, it’s money.”

Aurora’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully.

“I see. So, if this system applies to us, does it mean that if another pack experiences something similar, the Moonbridge pack would send them money or support as well?”

Alex nodded again, a small smile playing at his lips.

“That’s right. It’s a two-way street.”

Satisfied but contemplative, Aurora leaned back in her seat as the conversation shifted. The tension in the air dissolved, replaced by lighthearted chatter and laughter.

Someone in the group, a burly man with a booming voice, quipped, “Hah, finally, the threat of battles is behind us. We can all get back to our regular lives.”

“Yeah,” chimed in a woman with dark curls, her voice laced with relief.

“My vacation has been long enough. I need to head back to work in France.”

A younger man smirked, leaning casually against the wall.

“I’ve taken so many leaves this year, I’ll probably have to look for a new job when I get back to my city.”

Another woman, her tired eyes lighting up at the thought, sighed wistfully.

“I left my kids with their father’s family. I’m counting the hours until I can see them again.”

“Yes,” someone else added. “I’ve already booked my flight for next week. What about you, Edwin? When are you heading back?”

Aurora looked around, her confusion deepening. She furrowed her brows and finally asked, “Wait... where is everyone going?”

A middle-aged man, who had been quiet until now, explained, “Oh, since the fight began, everyone returned here to help. But now that everything’s resolved, we’re heading back to our homes.”

“That’s just how it is,” Alpha Alex said, his tone matter-of-fact.

“Pack members have their own dreams, passions, jobs, and even love lives. They spread across the world, chasing their own lives. Of course, they don’t always stay within the pack. Many live in far-off countries, building careers and relationships. But when the pack is in danger, they all return, no matter the distance, to stand together.”

Aurora glanced at Edwin, her brows furrowing slightly. The unspoken question was clear in her eyes, “Is this really how it works?”

Edwin’s silent response came in the form of a slight nod, his expression confirming, “Yes, it’s true.”
