Becky ?
Then Aurora asked, “ By the way, are you okay?”
Edwin gave a small, reassuring smile, squeezing her hand gently. “Yes, absolutely. Why wouldn’t I be?”
Aurora’s brows knitted together, a hint of fear flickering in her gaze. “It’s just… with the attacks happening one after another, I can’t help but worry about you.”
Edwin’s expression softened, his hand resting on her shoulder.
“Baby, I told you—I wasn’t involved in last night’s fight. It was with some other pack members.”
Aurora bit her lip, clearly unconvinced. “But you mentioned the Ravenwood Werewolves’ strategy. They’re targeting all the strong warriors first to weaken the Alpha. You’re one of those strong warriors. What if they come after you too...?”
Edwin’s face grew serious as he looked at her. His voice, though tense, carried a steady strength.
“Aurora, to be honest, there’s a real chance any pack member could be attacked. But don’t worry.”
He pulled her closer, his tone softening with a reassuring smile. “Your boyfriend is no less than anyone!”
She nodded, though a lingering worry remained in her eyes. “Still… I can’t shake this uneasy feeling.”
Edwin took her hand firmly, his thumb tracing gentle circles over her skin. “Take it a little slow, baby. Don’t let yourself get weighed down by these thoughts right now, okay?”
Aurora wrapped her arms around him, holding him tight, taking comfort in his warmth. “Hmm,” she murmured softly, resting her head against his shoulder.
After a moment, she pulled back slightly, looking up at him. “You mentioned that the evidence your pack had against the Ravenwood Werewolves—the proof that they were attacking you illegally—has been destroyed?”
Edwin ran a hand through his hair, his fingers threading through the strands as he exhaled, a flicker of frustration in his eyes. “It’s bad, baby. "
" Those Ravenwood Werewolves have joined forces with several rogues. They’re constantly attacking us, trying to wear us down, to make our pack weaker. And now, they’re even targeting the townspeople, causing harm to innocent lives.”
Aurora’s face paled, her hand reaching for his instinctively. A chill traced down her spine as she whispered, “So… what are we going to do? What can your pack do? Is there anything I can do to help?”
“No, Aurora,” Edwin replied, his gaze softening as he looked at her. His tone shifted, gentler now. “Just being here, with your mate, that’s all the help I need.”
A hint of determination crossed his face.
“As for those Ravenwood Pack bastards, we’ll handle them. We’re putting together bigger plans to trap them, but it’s dangerous. I need you to promise me you’ll stay away from the woods at night and keep an eye out for anything unusual.”
Aurora squeezed his hand, her eyes full of understanding. “I promise. "
"But if there’s anything wrong or whatever, anything at all, you have to let me know.”
Later, as they shared a warm meal together, they found comfort in each other’s company. Between bites and laughter, they talked about everything—from the heavy weight of the pack’s struggles to the simple joys of their lives. They spoke about balancing work and personal time, how they managed to find moments of peace in the chaos, and the ways they could spend even more time together.
A few days had passed quietly, but an undercurrent of tension lingered in the town. People were beginning to stay on high alert, sensing that peace might only be temporary.
Meanwhile, deep in the woods, Edwin and his Moonbridge werewolf pack showed no signs of resting. Each day, they committed to grueling training sessions, pushing themselves to the limit, sharpening their instincts, and preparing for an inevitable showdown against lurking threats.
One morning, as Aurora strolled along a familiar path, lost in thought, she collided with someone—a young girl. Startled, they both stepped back.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” the girl murmured quickly.
Aurora managed a small, understanding smile. “It’s okay. I wasn’t paying attention either.”
But something about the girl caught Aurora’s eye. There was a hint of distress in her gaze, her clothes slightly disarrayed, and her hair tangled as though she had just been in a struggle. A faint bruise marked her cheek, and her hands clutched tightly at her side, hiding faint scratches. She looked like a girl of around 19-18 years of age.
' Wait… I don’t recognize her,' Aurora thought, studying the girl with growing curiosity. ' Is she not from around here? '
Hesitantly, she asked, “Are you new here?”
The girl nodded faintly, but there was no relief in her expression. She looked as if she wanted to disappear, to avoid questions.
Just as she turned to leave, Aurora couldn’t shake the worry that tugged at her.
“Are you sure there’s no problem? You seem… troubled,” Aurora pressed gently.
The girl’s eyes darted to the ground, and silence fell between them, her lips pressed tightly together as if guarding a secret.
"I'm sorry if I'm interfering in your business," Aurora says softly, glancing at the girl with concern.
"But you… you don’t seem alright. With everything going on in town right now, if something has happened to you, you should really report it as soon as possible."
The girl lifts her gaze, managing a small smile. "No, it’s nothing like that."
Aurora's brows knit together, her worry deepening. "Then… what is it? You look like you're carrying the world on your shoulders."
She sighs, her voice barely a whisper. “It’s just… I’m fighting a battle with myself.”
Aurora tilts her head, puzzled. “What do you mean?”
The girl hesitates, her gaze drifting. "I mean… I feel very lost. I can't seem to make the right decisions for myself.”
Aurora's expression softens. “What could be that difficult?"
" And if it’s really that serious, maybe talk to your friends or family. Or if it’s something deeper, consider professional help.”
The girl shakes her head slightly, her voice tinged with sadness. “I only live with my dad. He knows a little about all this, but… somehow, he can’t help me make a decision either. He’s left everything up to me because, in the end, it’s my life, and I have to live it.”
" Okay...?" Aurora takes a step closer, her tone gentle. “By the way, I’m Aurora. I’ve been here for a while, but I’ve never seen you around before.”
A faint, sad smile tugs at Becky’s lips. “I only moved to this town one or two months ago. My name is Becky.”
“Nice to meet you, Becky.” Aurora smiles, though her eyes still hold a trace of worry. “But what kind of decision is bothering you so much? School? Friends? Relationships? Heartbreak?”
Becky looks away, her voice barely audible. “Where do I even begin? It feels like my entire existence is being questioned.”
Aurora notices the way Becky’s shoulders slump, the weight of her unspoken troubles evident. Sensing that Becky isn't ready to open up, she decides not to push further.
"I hope that whatever you’re dealing with, you find a solution soon,” she says softly.
Becky nods, her expression wistful. "Thank you… I think I needed someone to say that."
Aurora gives her a reassuring smile before turning to continue down the street, leaving Becky to her thoughts as the sun dips lower, casting long shadows over the quiet town.
