A Gentle Peck
Ring - ring -
Aurora, feeling extremely embarrassed, quickly gets up from the couch and distances herself from Edwin. She walks towards the kid standing just outside her door with his bicycle, his eyes wide and a knowing smirk tugging at his lips. This is the same kid who had met her before.
(in chapter 3)"Uh, how come you're here?" she asked, her voice barely steady, trying to compose herself.
"I'm here to deliver cards for the annual festival on behalf of the town committee," the boy said matter-of-factly, though his gaze flickered curiously back to the scene inside. "But, uh, it seemed like something else was cooking, so I had to ring the bell."
Aurora’s face burned. "Alright, alright," she muttered, reaching for the card.
As the boy handed it to her, he couldn't resist adding with a mischievous grin, "Didn't know you were so daring—leaving the door open like that!" He nodded toward Edwin, still seated inside.
Aurora made a quick gesture, shooing the boy off. "Are you leaving, or do I have to push you?" she said, forcing a tight smile.
The boy chuckled and pedaled away on his bike.
' Gosh!
'What was I thinking?' she scolded herself, biting her lip as she stepped back inside. ' He only leaned in a little, and I closed my eyes! How could I let my guard down like that?'
She tried to compose herself as she re-entered the room, holding up the card as a distraction. "So, uh, it’s for the Moonbridge town festival," she mumbled, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of the invitation. " And here's the invitation card for it."
Honestly, Edwin wasn't interested in the card at all.
His eyes were locked on her, his steps deliberate as he moved closer, his hand gently reaching for her cheek. He leaned in, his lips nearing hers once again.
But this time, Aurora’s heart raced with a different kind of awareness. Gently but firmly, she placed both hands on his chest, stopping him in his tracks.
"No."
She said softly, her voice steady but tinged with vulnerability.
"I'm... not ready yet."
Edwin, "But just now you were..." His words trailed off as Aurora quickly interrupted him.
" Tck!" She said, her brows furrowed, clearly overwhelmed by the situation.
" I don't know."Edwin stood still, sensing her distress, as Aurora began voicing her turmoil. "I don't understand anything. I mean, how much time has it even been since we met? And you're a werewolf! And--"
"Okay. Okay." Edwin raised his hands gently, trying to calm her down. "I understand."
He took a step closer, his gaze never leaving hers. "But Aurora, please don't take too long. Because I can't live without you anymore."
His emotions raw and open. "I know all of this must seem too fast for you, but werewolves are very devoted to their mates. They're quite possessive about them and want to imprint their mate as soon as possible, so please don't test my patience."
She managed to nod slightly. " Okay. "
Suddenly, Edwin's expression changed as he sniffed the air, his senses picking up on something distant. "Alright, I have to go now." His voice was urgent, yet calm. "I need to leave; there's a meeting with my pack."
Aurora blinked, startled by the sudden shift. "Oh, okay."
Edwin turned towards the door but stopped for a moment, glancing at the unlocked door frame. "Don't worry about it; I'll have it fixed for you tomorrow. For now, just lock your bedroom door before you sleep, and place something heavy against this door from the inside."
He paused, looking back at her with protective eyes. "Along with that, I'll ask my companions to guard your house tonight."
Aurora stood there, silently watching him, feeling a sense of security despite the whirlwind of emotions she was still trying to process.
Edwin, "Alright, now go to sleep peacefully,"
Aurora, "Okay."
As Edwin turned back one last time, he said, "I really don’t want to leave you, but duty calls." Unable to resist, he gave her a quick peck on her forehead, a tender gesture filled with warmth and affection. And then walked away.
Aurora feels an immediate rush of warmth from the unexpected kiss, a delightful shock that ignites a flurry of emotions within her.
As Edwin walks away, her mind races with thoughts. The kiss feels a significant first in her life, and she can’t help but think to herself!
'Ahhhhh!
He kissed me!
A kiss!
Someone kissed me for the first time! '

Her next day passed similarly. She replayed the memory of Edwin's gentle kiss, hoping that he would return to address the unspoken tension between them. However, as hours slipped by, her hopes began to fade; Edwin never appeared.
In the meantime, Aurora had become quite curious about Edwin. The absence of his presence ignited a flurry of questions in her mind. Where did he live in this vast town? Was he truly new here, or was there more to his story that she had yet to uncover? What does he do? What doesn't he do?
By the way, that very night, Aurora noticed something unexpected: her broken door had been mysteriously repaired. She understood that Edwin must have done it.
The thought brought a warmth to her chest, a reminder of his protective nature.
Yet, even with this comforting realization, she felt a profound sense of disappointment.
He didn’t come to see her at all, leaving her wondering about him all day!

Finally, some progress! There was a peck between them, at least !
