Her Past
Aurora’s voice trembled as she confronted Edwin, her eyes filled with a mix of frustration and worry.
“And if you weren’t a member of this pack, then it wouldn't be your responsibility to throw yourself into such dangerous fights? Fights that could take your life?”
Edwin’s lips curled into a soft, knowing smile. He stepped closer, pulling her into his arms with a protective yet tender grip.
“Because, baby,” he said, his voice deep and unwavering, “I am a werewolf. This is who I truly am. Why should I hide my real identity from you or anyone else?”
Aurora’s gaze softened slightly, but the conflict in her eyes remained.
Edwin continued, his tone carrying the weight of his emotions.
“And the pack… they’re my family. They’re where I come from, where I was born. How could I ever leave them? How could I turn my back on the ones who made me who I am? It’s no different from you, Aurora. Didn’t you leave everything behind to come here, to find your birthplace?”
His words struck a chord deep within her.
Aurora’s breath caught as a realization hit her like a flash of lightning.
Her mind raced, connecting fragments of her past, her memories, and a sudden thought erupted in her mind.
“Yeah!” she exclaimed, her voice rising with urgency.
“Edwin… did you find out about my parents? About the incident that happened 29 years ago?”
Edwin's expression turned grave as he gestured toward the nearby drawer.
“Aurora, open the drawer. There’s something in there you need to see,” he said firmly, his voice heavy with unspoken truths.
Aurora hesitated, her fingers trembling slightly as she reached for the drawer.
Inside, she found a worn file, its edges frayed with age. As she opened it, her breath caught. The file contained a stack of yellowed papers, and at the top, she noticed the name: Davis Family.
Her eyes scanned the documents, her heartbeat quickening as she read the details.
"Christopher Davis," she murmured, her voice barely audible. "Thirty-three years old… a bank employee."
Her gaze shifted to the next line. "Olivia Davis, thirty years old… originally a nurse from New Jersey, who became a housewife after moving to Moonbridge Town with her husband."
Her hands stilled as she came across a faded photograph—a young couple, smiling warmly, their love for each other evident.
“They met during a trip,” Edwin said quietly, filling in the gaps.
“Exchanged numbers, fell in love, and eventually got married. They were alone in this world—Christopher had lost his parents, and Olivia had cut ties with her abusive family to start fresh.”
Aurora felt a lump in her throat as she flipped to the next page. The words blurred for a moment, but the weight of the story hit her.
“They became part of this town, Moonbridge,” she whispered, piecing it together. “Everyone saw them as their own…”
Her voice faltered as she read the next line.
" A year after their marriage, they had a baby girl. But before they could even name her…" She stopped, clutching the paper tightly.
Edwin spoke softly, his voice laced with sorrow.
“A fire broke out in their home. It was caused by a disaster in the town. Both Christopher and Olivia…” He paused, his own emotions evident.
