Curfews and Confessions

" But… why?!"

Edwin’s voice grew heavier, as though the words carried an even darker truth.

"Because if the police found the body, they’d do a postmortem. And during the autopsy, it would be clear that the person died from an animal attack—a wolf."

Aurora stared at him, trying to piece everything together. "So?"

"So, Aurora," Edwin continued, his tone grave, "that would lead to more problems for us. "

"Police won't understand that it wasn’t our pack, meaning the Moobridge werewolf pack, but some outsider wolf,"
he said, trying to make Aurora understand the gravity of the situation.

"Imagine if tomorrow someone sees one of our werewolves in the forest or somewhere else, They’ll immediately assume we’re the threat."

"So, if any of us accidentally shift into werewolf form and are seen, they’ll either hunt us down or get animal rescue to take us away. That would be a huge problem, right?"

Edwin continued, "And second, we want to observe our enemy's killing techniques from the wound on that body."

Aurora raised an eyebrow, the realization settling in. "Oh!" she exclaimed softly. "I get it now."

Suddenly, Edwin’s phone buzzed, interrupting the conversation. He remained seated, answering the call without missing a beat. "What’s going on?" he asked, his tone switching to business.

A voice from the other end was clear. "Where are the papers containing the past records of that Ravenwood werewolf pack?"

“They're in the third drawer,” Edwin, slightly frustrated but composed, answered the call, “And if you need details on their power, strength, or strategy, you’ll find them on a bookshelf in the pack house library.”

From the other side, "Okay, and---"

The person on the other end began to say something more, but before they could continue, Edwin interrupted sharply, his voice firm.

“I’m on a break right now! I specifically got permission from the Alpha to take this time off to meet my lover, so let me have a moment of peace.”

Without hesitation, he ended the call abruptly.

Turning back to Aurora, his face softened with an apologetic smile. “Sorry about that, these teens can’t handle anything on their own.”

“Oh really?" Aurora, amused by his words, chuckled. "And now you're suddenly an old man, huh?”

“Yeah, so?" Edwin laughed along, the playful glint in his eyes returning. " But you’re still going to fall in love with this old man, right?”

“Who said that?" With a teasing grin, Aurora leaned closer, " I only like young, strong, and handsome guys.”

Edwin, sitting next to her, leaned in even closer, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

“So, you don’t think I fit into that category?” he asked, his voice low and teasing, the chemistry between them electric.

Aurora’s cheeks flushed as she looked at Edwin’s strikingly handsome face, tracing his well-defined jawline with her eyes.
His intense gaze locked with her brown eyes, drawing them closer. Edwin gently ran his fingers through her dark chocolate colored hair, his heart racing with the desire to finally kiss her.

Up until now, their moments together had only been fleeting, with soft pecks exchanged in haste, never a real kiss. There had never been the time—or the need—until now.

As their faces inched closer, the air around them thick with anticipation, they both leaned in, ready to share their first real kiss. But just as their lips were about to meet,

Ring—ring—

Edwin’s phone cut through the moment, shattering the intimacy.

Annoyed, he grabbed his phone, his frustration evident. "What now?" he snapped into the receiver.

A voice on the other end hesitated before speaking. "Uh, it's urgent. You need to come. The Alpha has summoned you."

Edwin let out a deep sigh, hanging up and turning back to Aurora with an apologetic look. "I’m sorry, baby. I have to go."

Aurora, though disappointed, smiled softly, offering him a reassuring glance. "It’s okay. I understand. Just take care of yourself, alright?"

They embraced one last time, holding onto the moment before Edwin reluctantly pulled away. With a lingering look, he hurried out.

For the next few days, the talk of the body and the sudden curfew continued to circulate around Moonbridge town, but as time passed, the buzz gradually began to die down.

The town seemed to return to its usual calm, but for Aurora, everything had changed. She had come to terms with Edwin's secret, accepting the fact that werewolves, like him, coexisted with humans in this world. Her curiosity about his kind had only grown, leading her to dive into research, poring over books, articles, and internet pages, eager to understand more about the world Edwin was part of?

On this chilly Sunday morning, the air crisp and cool, Aurora had a day off from work. After days of being buried in tasks, the thought of stepping outside and taking a peaceful stroll filled her with excitement.

She called Edwin, inviting him to join her for a relaxing walk in the park.

Luckily, Edwin was also free, and they planned to meet at a spot in the park.

As she wandered through the park, the morning sun casting a soft glow over the trees, Aurora couldn’t help but smile. The serenity of the nearly empty park wrapped around her like a warm blanket.

"Ah! I had almost forgotten how peaceful and beautiful our town is," she thought to herself, a gentle smile spreading across her face

Just as she was lost in her thoughts, she suddenly felt a pair of warm hands cover her eyes from behind, plunging her vision into darkness. Startled, her breath caught in her throat, but a playful grin crept onto her lips as she instinctively knew who it was.
