Whispers of Loyalty
Aurora reached up and felt the familiar grip of his large hands. Before she could react, she heard his deep voice, soft and teasing, whisper in her ear, "Baby, guess who?"
Aurora laughs, "Are you serious?!"
She said, her voice playful but skeptical. "You’re doing this childish stuff?"
There was no mistaking it—it was Edwin. His chuckle rumbled behind her, and he responded, "Yeah, so what?"
Aurora grabs both his hands, said, "Now remove your hand."
Still blindfolded by his hands, Edwin says, "First, call me by my name with that lovely voice of yours."
She could feel the solid warmth of his body just inches behind her, his presence overwhelming her senses.
Embarrassed, she muttered softly, "Ugh! You’re too much!" Just as she finished, she felt a sudden, unexpected sensation as Edwin leaned in, his lips brushing her ear before giving it a quick, playful lick.
As Edwin says, "What did I do?"
The sensation made her gasp involuntarily, a soft "Ah~" escaping her lips, and her face flushed instantly. The sound she made embarrassed her even more, and she bit her lip in frustration.
Sensing her flustered state, Edwin relented, slowly releasing his hands from her eyes. As soon as she could see again, Aurora turned to face him, her expression a mix of mock annoyance and embarrassment.
"Don’t you feel ashamed, acting like this in the park, teasing me like we’re teenagers?"
Edwin only smirked, his voice low and suggestive. "What kind of acting?"
Unable to take any more of his teasing, Aurora huffed and started walking away, trying to hide her blush.
But Edwin wasn’t far behind, following her with an apologetic grin. "Alright, alright, I’m sorry. Didn’t mean to embarrass you this much." But the way his laughter followed her told Aurora he wasn’t entirely sorry.
They found a quiet bench under the shade of a large oak tree, the soft rustling of leaves overhead and the gentle breeze carrying the scent of the earth. The park stretched around them, vibrant with greenery, birds chirping, and the soft hum of life moving slowly.
Aurora and Edwin sat side by side, silently soaking in the peaceful atmosphere for a moment.
Breaking the silence, Aurora turned to Edwin, "So, is everything going well with your pack's responsibilities and your company?"
Edwin nodded casually, his posture relaxed. "Yeah, everything’s fine."
Aurora glanced ahead, her brow furrowing slightly in thought. "And what about that neighboring werewolf pack... uh, what was their name? You told me last time… the ones who..." She trailed off, trying to recall the details.
Edwin filled in the blank, "The Ravenwood Werewolf Pack."
"Right, that’s the one," Aurora said, nodding as the name clicked into place. "They’re the neighboring pack, right? The ones trying to attack us. Have you learned anything more about them? Are they really planning to attack our town?"
Edwin’s expression grew more serious as he turned to face her, his jaw tightening slightly.
"We’re not entirely sure," he admitted, his tone measured. "Some of the information we’ve gathered says no, but other evidence points to yes. But we can’t rush into a decision, especially not based on just rumors or appearances. We need solid proof before we act."
