First Date
As the evening arrives quickly, Aurora starts getting ready as soon as she reaches home. She picks her best outfit for the night, a short red dress paired with a shining silver necklace and a ring, her favorite pieces of jewelry. She leaves her hair open and curls it. She's trying her best to look perfect.
Just as she finishes her hair, her phone lights up with an incoming FaceTime call from her friend Lily. Aurora picks up, and Lily’s face appears on the screen, smiling wide.
"Hey! Sorry, I was busy with work and couldn't check your messages," Lily says, her tone apologetic but curious as she sees Aurora all dressed up.
Before Aurora can respond, Lily’s eyes widen, and she gasps, "And... ?! You're going on a date or something?!"
Aurora laughs nervously. "Yeah, tonight. I’m just finishing getting ready."
"Ahhh!" Lily squeals in excitement, leaning closer to her camera. "Why didn't you tell me? You should’ve called! And when is it? It's with Edwin, right?"
Aurora, while adjusting her earrings, says, "Yeah, it's tonight."
"Ooooh! So where’s it happening?" Lily asks, her face full of curiosity.
"I don’t know. Edwin said he’s taking me to a special place," Aurora replies, shrugging slightly.
Lily grins. "Oh, surprises, huh?" Then her expression turns more serious, but playful. "By the way, how are things going between you and Edwin?"
Aurora glances at herself in the mirror, smiling softly. "Good. It’s like he’s head over heels for me!"
"Not bad, huh! You finally found a great guy," Lily teases, clearly happy for her friend.
Aurora holds up her phone, switching to the front camera, and shows Lily her full outfit. "How do I look?"
Lily gasps dramatically, putting a hand over her heart. "Girl! You look amazing!" She quickly sends a heart emoji in the FaceTime chat.
Just then, the doorbell rings, breaking the moment. Aurora’s eyes widen, her excitement mixing with nervousness. "Oh! I think he's here!" she says.
"Go, go! You’re gonna have an amazing time!" Lily cheers through the screen.
Aurora quickly says goodbye to Lily and heads to the door. With a deep breath, she opens it and sees Edwin, all dressed.
There stands Edwin, looking effortlessly dashing. He’s wearing a perfectly tailored charcoal-gray suit that hugs his frame just right, giving him a sophisticated yet modern edge. The crisp white shirt underneath contrasts against the dark suit, while a slim black tie, his shoes are polished to a shine.
In one hand, he holds a small bouquet of delicate roses, their soft pink petals adding a romantic touch to his otherwise formal attire. A smile spreads across his face as he steps closer, smelling her subtle floral perfume, with notes of jasmine and rose mixed.
Edwin says, his gaze never leaving hers,
"You look stunning."Aurora is dressed in a knee-length pink dress that shimmers softly under the light. The dress hugs her waist and flares slightly at the skirt, offering a graceful, modern look. With a sweetheart neckline and delicate straps, it highlights her collarbone and moves effortlessly as she walks.
Seeing her not saying anything in return, Edwin raised an eyebrow and asked, "What?"
He asked, "Don't I look good?"
And a a soft smile spreading across Aurora's face as she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
Edwin then handed her the bouquet of flowers he had been holding, their sweet fragrance filling the small space between them.
With a charming grin, he offered his hand to Aurora, and she accepted it, their fingers intertwining as they walked towards the car together. He opened the door for her like a true gentleman, and she slid into the seat, her heart racing with anticipation. After securing himself behind the wheel, Edwin started driving, the gentle hum of the engine mirroring their excitement.
As they drove through the town streets, both were filled with a sense of thrill, eager to embark on their first date together.
In the car, their conversation flowed effortlessly, punctuated by laughter and curious glances.
Aurora leaned slightly towards Edwin, her eyes sparkling with interest. "So, tell me something about your werewolf pack and world!"
"Like what?" Edwin pondered for a moment, his gaze shifting to the road ahead. "We aren't some creatures from another planet. Just like humans, we’re a normal species created by nature."
"Yeah, but still!" Aurora's voice light with curiosity. " Like, what do you do after turning into a wolf? Do you hunt or something?"
Edwin took a moment, then began to share more about the world of werewolves, his tone both informative and playful.
“You know, werewolves have senses that are incredibly sharp, just like wolves. We can identify each other by our scents, which helps us tell whether someone is a human or another werewolf. We can even sense if they’re male or female.”
He paused, glancing at Aurora to gauge her reaction. Her curiosity seemed to grow, so he continued, “We’re powerful creatures, and technically, we could harm humans and even consume their flesh. But, of course, no sane werewolf would ever do that.”
Aurora listened intently, intrigued by the revelations. Edwin leaned back in his seat, feeling a bit more comfortable as he shared.
“And you know, we usually only reveal our true nature to our community and only when absolutely necessary. Otherwise, it’s kept hidden—like a top secret. Emergencies are the only times we might show ourselves.”
A teasing smirk spread across his face as he added, “And you know, a werewolf can also appear in their mate’s dreams.”
Aurora laughed at the playful jab, but a sudden realization hit her.
“It’s a joke, right?”
Edwin didn’t respond, leaving a brief silence in the air, which made her heart race.
“No way!” she exclaimed, unable to contain her surprise.
“You know,” Aurora said slowly, “the day I first talked to you, I had a dream that same night. It was… quite steamy. In it, there was a man with me, and his eyes looked just like yours… Could it be true?”
A playful glint in his eyes as he explained, “Well, a werewolf can appear in their mate’s dreams, especially when there’s a strong desire to meet them.”
Aurora raised an eyebrow, intrigued but slightly skeptical. “So do all werewolves appear in anyone's dreams too—”
“Not everyone!” Edwin quickly interjected, his tone firm yet lighthearted. “Only when a werewolf has an extreme desire to be close to their mate can their senses manifest in dreams, allowing them to fulfill their desires.”
He paused, letting his words hang in the air, then continued, “When I first met you, I felt that same extreme desire to meet you, to be close to you. That’s why I experienced all of that with you in my dreams.”
Aurora burst into laughter, her eyes sparkling with amusement. “Wow! Now I can’t even escape from you in my dreams!”
The playful banter made the atmosphere feel light and electric, and both of them felt a rush of connection.
Their conversation flowed effortlessly as they drove, and before long, they arrived at a small hill behind the town. Edwin parked the car, and they stepped out, the cool evening breeze brushing against their skin.
