A Plan in Motion
Aurora now recalls that his heightened werewolf senses must have made it impossible for her presence to go unnoticed whenever she came near him. The realization stirs a mix of emotions—annoyance at his sharp instincts and frustration at her own inability to hide from his awareness.
But soon, her thoughts drift back to the memory of that other woman. She clenches her fists, her mind swirling with anger and hurt.
she thinks to herself.
That's all fine! But what about that woman... the way she held his hand? And what he said... That the proposal wasn’t bad? What about that?
Edwin, sensing her turmoil, steps closer, his expression softening.
"I refused her a long time ago!" he says with conviction. His voice is steady, yet there’s a hint of urgency. "Right after meeting you, I immediately told her that I was joking and that I am utterly devoted to my girlfriend!"
His words are followed by a firm, reassuring embrace. He holds her tightly, as if trying to physically convey the truth of his feelings.
Aurora stiffens in his arms, her lips pressing into a thin line.
She pulls back slightly, her eyes narrowing. "Hmph!" she huffs, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Whatever that was, it hurt me deeply," she says, her voice trembling with suppressed emotion. "I will never forget this! I won’t talk to you!"
"Aurora," Edwin pleads, stepping closer again. His eyes are filled with regret, and his tone softens.
"Ah! Baby..." he begins, but she turns her head sharply away from him, refusing to meet his gaze.
"Don't be so mad," he continues, his voice gentle yet desperate. "Listen to me!"
But Aurora is firm. She snaps, "Nope!"
Her tone is sharp, leaving no room for negotiation.
Edwin sighs, a hand running through his hair in frustration. He moves closer once more, his voice taking on a pleading tone. "Please... my baby..." His words hang in the air, but Aurora doesn’t relent.
The tension between them lingers, unresolved, as the day drags on. They exchange glances filled with unspoken words, and Edwin makes several attempts to break through her wall of silence, but Aurora remains steadfast. The weight of the situation hangs heavy, and despite Edwin's efforts, the distance between them feels insurmountable—for now.
For the next couple of days, Aurora’s anger toward Edwin remained as sharp as ever. She avoided him at all costs, refusing to answer his calls or messages. Edwin, on the other hand, was relentless in his attempts to make things right. He sent flowers, left heartfelt notes, but Aurora’s cold silence didn’t waver.
One sunny Saturday afternoon, Aurora sat in the living room, sipping tea and chatting with her friend Lily. The conversation was light at first, until Lily, as if remembering something important, suddenly said, “By the way, Aurora, I met Edwin the other day.”
Aurora stiffened at the mention of his name, but Lily did notice and continued, “He told me everything about that woman and the misunderstanding. "
" You know what? He was asking me how he could win you back. He even asked about your favorite things—your likes and dislikes—just to figure out how to make you happy again.”
Aurora’s cup clinked loudly against the saucer as she set it down with more force than intended.
Her eyes narrowed, and her voice was sharp. “Don’t talk about him!” she snapped.
“How dare he? How could he have the audacity to pull a stunt like that with me? I will never forgive him!”
Lily sighed and leaned back in her chair, her tone calm yet persuasive.
“Come on, Aurora. "" I get it—it hurt. But don’t you see? He did all of that just because he wanted you to agree to be with him forever. He wasn’t trying to hurt you.”
Aurora’s frown deepened, and she crossed her arms over her chest.
“But is that any way to go about it? That’s not how you treat someone you care about.”
Lily nodded thoughtfully. “Okay, fine, you’re upset."
" You’ve made your point loud and clear. But Aurora, it’s been three days. Don’t you think it’s time to let it go?”
Aurora glared at her friend.
“Why should I forgive him?” she demanded, her voice tinged with stubbornness.
Lily leaned forward, her tone softening.
“Look, Aurora, these kinds of things happen in relationships."" There will be moments when you feel jealous because of him, and there will be times when he feels jealous because of you. These are normal stages. But does that mean you’re going to hold onto this forever?”
Aurora’s lips parted slightly, as if she wanted to argue, but she hesitated.
“I mean... but...”
Lily interrupted, her voice firm yet empathetic. “Just give him a chance! "
" Do you know how desperate he looked when I met him yesterday? He was so heartbroken over you. He’s genuinely trying to make amends. Can’t you see that?”
Aurora’s anger began to waver, her expression softening slightly. “Really?” she asked, her voice quieter now.
“Was he really that upset?”
Lily smiled gently. “Yes, Aurora. "
" He looked absolutely miserable. If you don’t believe me, just see for yourself. He’s practically falling apart without you.”
"Yeah, believe me, girl!" Lily said. "Alright, if you’re doubtful, then fine. Let me show you something live—or rather, let you listen to it live."
"Hm?" Aurora raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Lily and Aurora hatched their plan quickly, and soon enough, Lily was seated at a cozy table in a small, elegant restaurant, her phone tucked discreetly into her purse with the line open for Aurora to listen in. Aurora, on the other end, sat on her bed, clutching the phone tightly, her curiosity and annoyance battling within her.
Edwin arrived punctually, looking a little anxious but determined. He greeted Lily with a polite smile and sat down across from her. "Thanks for meeting me," he said, glancing at the menu. "I really hope you can help me figure this out."
"Of course," Lily replied smoothly, giving him an encouraging smile. She gestured to the menu.
"Let’s order something first. Then we’ll talk."
Once they had placed their orders, Lily leaned forward, her tone turning serious.
"Alright, Edwin, let’s get straight to the point. Tell me honestly—why did you feel the need to pull this whole stunt with that woman? What were you thinking?"
Edwin exhaled, running a hand through his hair.
"I already told you—I just wanted Aurora to agree to marry me."
Lily tilted her head, pretending to think. "Okay, but why didn’t you just propose to her directly? Wouldn’t that have been simpler?"
Edwin looked down at the table, his fingers tracing the edge of his water glass. "Because I know her. "
" She’s not ready for that kind of commitment right now. And honestly, if I’d proposed, there was a 90% chance she would’ve said no."
Lily didn’t let up. "So, if you knew she wasn’t ready, why did you go ahead with this ridiculous act? Don’t you realize how hurt she is because of it?"
