035. DON'T BE A FOOL, KATNISS

Chapter thirty five

"Don't be a fool, Katniss."

It was dark out and thundering in the distance, as there was a car on the side of the road, the tree's from the woods rustled, as Katniss, Daryl and Beth came running out of it as they saw the car in front of them "come on." Daryl said, as he walked around it, Katniss and Beth followed him, as thunder rumbled in the distance, Daryl kept watch while Beth checked the drivers seat, Katniss opened up the trunk having a knife at the ready incase there was a walker inside but there wasn't, cause it seemed all of the walkers they came across lately were already following them, as their growls could be heard from the woods.

Beth came running over and as she climbed in, Daryl then climbed in, as Katniss got in, the two then closed the trunk, as the three got comfy in there, Daryl tied the handle to the trunk shut, just in time as the walkers began coming out of the woods and hitting into the car, their growls and flashes of lightning could be seen.

Before the real storm came and thunder boomed, making Katniss jump, Daryl had his crossbow aimed at the trunk while Katniss and Beth held onto their knives.

And once the storm finally stopped, the only thing that could be heard were the walkers that were still out there.

But soon they left and when they did, Katniss untied the trunk handle and opened it, as she climbed out of it so did Beth then Daryl, where the three of them began grabbing all the garbage they could from the car and putting it into bags before they began walking down the road.

Where when they had found a place to camp, Daryl headed out to find something for them to eat while Katniss put all the garbage they found on strings and began circling it around their camp so if anything got too close they could know before it got them while Beth made the fire.

Daryl soon came back, having skinned a snake, he cooked it over the fire, where him and Katniss were eating it while Beth just watched them as she tried to eat her's but didn't really enjoy it as she put it on the ground "I need a drink." she told them, as Daryl grabbed the water bottle and tossed it to her "no, I mean a real drink. As in alcohol." Beth told them, as Katniss and Daryl kept eating not even acknowledging her "I've never had one. Cause of my dad. But he's not exactly around anymore, so..I thought we could go find some." she said, but the two of them said nothing.

"Okay. Uh, enjoy your snake jerky." Beth told them, standing up and grabbing the knife that was in the log, she walked off from camp and as she did, Katniss looked at Daryl, as Daryl threw down his snake jerky, he stood up, grabbing his crossbow, he walked off and Katniss knew to stay there as she continued to eat her's, as she soon heard Beth's voice "I think we made it away. I'm pretty sure we gotta go that way for the booze." Beth shared, as Katniss heard the tin cans clang "what the hell? You brought me back. I'm not staying in this suck ass camp." Beth shared, and as Katniss looked over she saw her give Daryl the middle finger, as she turned to walk off.

Daryl grabbed her arm "hey! You had your fun." he told her, and as he did, Katniss threw down her jerky, standing up, she began kicking out the fire as she grabbed her bow "what the hell is wrong with you? Do you feel anything? Yeah, you think everything's screwed. I guess that's a feeling. So you wanna spend the rest of our lives staring into a fire and eating mud snakes? Screw that. We might as well do something. I can take care of myself and I'm gonna get a damn drink." Beth shared, as she turned walking off, Daryl turned around seeing Katniss was right behind him, he turned and began following her, as Katniss stepped over the string, following him.

They soon had come out of the woods and onto a field, where there was a tipped over gold cart and a building in the distance "golfers like to booze it up, right?" Beth asked, as they looked to the left six walkers were coming toward's them "come on." Beth said, as she turned walking to the right, Daryl made sure Katniss followed her first before following behind.
