045. IS THAT ALL WE ARE

Chapter forty five

"Is that all we are." 

They all were awake and doing different things, Katniss and Carl were finding pieces of wood to reinforce the door, as Katniss pulled a piece of wood off the wall, she turned and handed it to Carl, as the door to the barn opened "hey. Everyone.." Maggie said, as they all looked to her, seeing a man following in behind, Sasha had her gun aimed at him "this is Aaron." Maggie told them, as everyone grabbed their weapons, Daryl went walking toward's them as he looked outside "we met him outside. He's by himself." Maggie shared, as Daryl turned around and began patting Aaron down "we took his weapons and we took his gear." Maggie shared.

As Tara was double checking outside, she then closed the door and chained it shut, Carl was standing right behind Katniss "hi." Aaron told them, as Judith started crying, Carl stepped around Katniss "shh." he said, taking her from Rick and stepping back behind Katniss "it's nice to meet you." Aaron said, as he stepped forward, Daryl stepped toward's him "you said he had a weapon?" Rick asked, as Maggie walked forward, Rick put his gun in his holster as he took the one from her and checked it out before putting it in his back pocket "there something you need?" he asked.

"He has a camp nearby. He wants us to audition for membership." Sasha shared "I wish there was another word. Audition makes it sound like we're some sort of dance troupe. That's only on friday nights. Um, and it's not a camp. It's a community. I think you all would make valuable additions. But it's not my call. My job it so convince you all to follow me back home. I know. If I were you, I wouldn't go either. Not until I knew exactly what I was getting into." Aaron shared, as he turned looking at Sasha "Sasha, can you hand Rick my pack?" he asked, as Sasha walked forward, taking the bag off and handing it to Rick.

"Front pocket, there's an envelope." Aaron shared, as Rick crouched down opening up the bag "there's no way I could convince you to come with me just by talking about our community. That's why I brought those. Now I apologize in advance for the picture quality. We just found an old camera store.." Aaron shared "nobody gives a shit." Daryl interrupted him, as Aaron turned looking at him "you're absolutely one hundred percent right." he shared, looking back at Rick, who was looking at the photos "that's the first picture I wanted to show you because nothing I say about our community will matter unless you'll know you'll be safe. If you join us, you will be. Each panel in that wall is a fifteen foot high, twelve foot wide slab of solid steel framed by cold rolled steel beams and square tubing." he shared.

As Rick stood up "nothing alive or dead gets through that without our say so. Like I said, security is obviously important. In fact, there's only one resource more critical to our community's survival. The people." Aaron shared, as Rick and Michonne looked at each other "together we're strong. You can make us even stronger." Aaron shared, as Rick began walking toward's him "the next picture, you'll see inside the gates. Our community was first construc.." Aaron said, as Rick punched him in the face, he fell to the ground hard, as Daryl and Maggie checked on him, Carol walked forward, as Carl went and put Judith down.

Katniss put her bow back around her as she went and grabbed Aaron's bag, Rick came walking back "so we're clear, that look wasn't a, let's attack that man, look. It was a, he seems like an okay guy to me, look." Michonne shared "we got to secure him." Rick shared, as he looked to Katniss "dump his pack. Let's see what this guy really is." he shared, as Katniss walked off with it, Carl followed her, going over to the table, Katniss took the bag off and unzipped it, as her and Carl began taking things out there was a jar and a strange looking gun, as Rick walked up to them "what'd you find?" he asked.
