006. KATNISS AFOOT

Chapter six

"Katniss afoot."

Being back on the road was definitely a chance they were grateful for but not exactly one they were prepared for, seeing as they had been making many supply runs and on one of them Shane couldn't get back to his jeep in time and started to get swarmed by walkers as he went off running, he began shooting off rounds and as he did, Daryl looked to Katniss "hold on!" he voiced, as he began driving away, speeding down the road, he drove up to the RV honking his horn, Katniss rolled down the window, looking at Rick "Shane! Shane's over there!" she yelled, pointing in the direction "he's trapped! Walkers all around him!" Daryl voiced, as he sped past them, Rick then began driving toward's Shane, while the two of them made sure Carol and T Dog were still with them.

Where once they saved Shane, Rick began leading the way once more and as they followed them Daryl began to realize where he was taking them, as they all parked, they got out of their vehicles, as T Dog, Carol, Sophia, Daryl and Katniss made it up to the RV "I bet they're barely hanging on. What makes you think they'll take in strangers?" Andrea asked "all the guns we gave em they'll probably throw us a party. Good call, for once." Daryl told them, as they all began walking.

There were two holes in the wall, as Glenn, T Dog, Katniss, Daryl, Rick, Dale, Lori and Carl hopped through one, Andrea, Carol and Sophia and Shane hopped through the other "where are the lookouts?" Glenn asked, as Shane, Rick, Daryl, Glenn and Dale lead the way "oh, son of a bitch." Shane said, as they saw a walker feeding on someone and as they continued through, there was even more of them, as Katniss's eyes went wide, Lori and Carol shielded Carl and Sophia, the walkers then looked at them all seeing as they were fresh meat, as Daryl held his handgun out.

"To hell with the noise." Rick said, as he and the others started shooting them all, Katniss, Lori, Carl, Carol, Sophia and Andrea all got down, as the gunfire soon stopped, they all stood up again "come on, on me!" Rick voiced, as they all began following him, as they headed through a dark walkway soon making it to a building, Rick and Daryl headed in first along with Shane, as Katniss, Sophia, Carol, Andrea, Lori and Carl followed in behind, a dead person's feet could be seen from one of the rooms, as Sophia started crying "keep your voices down, let's go." Shane told them, as they moved forward, Glenn, T Dog and Dale followed in behind them.

Where as they moved, there was even more dead people but not bitten they looked to be shot, as Sophia cried out, Daryl turned around "put a sock in it!" he voiced "you leave her alone!" Carol voiced "you shut her up or I will!" Daryl voiced "back the hell off, I mean now!" Lori voiced, as she looked to Rick "are we staying or going?" she asked "we don't have the fuel." Rick told her "we hunker down for the night. Okay, Rick, you, me and Daryl we're gonna sweep the building make sure we're alone." Shane shared, as Rick turned to them all "the rest of you barricade those doors." he told them, as he turned walking off with Shane and Daryl.

Katniss stepped toward's Sophia "it's okay." she told her, holding her hand out to her, Sophia took her hand "go with them." Lori told Carl motioning him toward's the two, as she along with Carol went to help Andrea, T Dog, Dale and Glenn barricade the doors, the three stepped out of the way, where Katniss moved the three of them away from doors, as the three sat down, Sophia was squeezing Katniss's free hand really hard where Katniss winced in pain which Carl noticed as he put his hand over the one that was holding her bow an arrow, a walker could be beard as he quickly grabbed her hand, Sophia started crying.

Katniss looked to her "we're okay." she whispered while Carl put his finger up to his lips telling her to shush, where when the walker walked off, they all stood up and began running down the hallway.
