Chapter one

"On the outskirts of Atlanta."

On the outskirts of the city of Atlanta, up in the mountains and out in the woods lived a group of survivors, surviving off the food they hunt, fish and scavenge from the city where it's a rarity if they ever see any of the flesh eating dead up here seeing as nobody exactly had come up with a name to call them yet, where today for the first time ever a group of six people had gone out into the city to scavenge for supplies and one of those people surprisingly included Merle who wasn't exactly a team player so it was interesting when he decided to go all the way out there, meanwhile Daryl had then gone out hunting to bring them all back some more food.

Leaving many of them back at camp on this sunny cloudy day, where someone was on top of the RV keeping watch while others sat around talking, others were doing the occasional chores, as Katniss was sitting near the tree stump in the middle of camp that had the CB radio on it, seeing as Shane told her, her job was to sit there and listen for if anyone talks through it which was rare as she mostly spent her time sitting there and using her knife to sharpen the arrows for her bow, which she was doing right now.

As the radio started to crackle, a man's voice came through "hello. Hello. Can anybody hear my voice?" he asked, as Katniss put her knife and arrow down she sat up on her knees, reaching for the receiver, Dale had stood up making his way over while Amy who had been collecting firewood ran over, as Katniss pressed her finger down on the button "hello?" she asked, letting go of the button "can you hear my voice?" the man asked, as Katniss pressed down on the button again "yes, e can hear you. Over." she said, letting of the button.

"Anybody reads please respond." the man said, as it crackled "broadcasting on emergency channel. Will be approaching Atlanta on highway 85. If anybody reads please respond." the man said, as it crackled, Katniss pressed her finger down on the button "don't go to Atlanta. Outside the city is safer. We have a.." she was saying, but when she let go of the button, she didn't hear a man's voice just crackling, as she huffed, hitting the CB "Shane, it's not working!" she voiced "try to raise him again." Dale told her, as Lori and Carl walked over "come on, son, you know best how to work this thing." Dale shared.

As Shane walked up, he slammed his axe down onto the stump, throwing his hand down, as he kneeled across from Katniss, taking the CB from her, he pressed his finger on the button "hello, hello. Is the person who called still on the air?" he asked, letting go of the button and as he did, all they got was crackling, as he pressed the button again "this is officer Shane Walsh broadcasting to person unknown. Please respond." he shared, as the radio crackled again, he then put it down "he's gone." he told them.

"There are other's. It's not just us." Lori shared "we knew there would be, right? That's why we left the CB on." Shane shared "a lot of good it's been doing." Lori shared "okay." Shane said "and I've been saying for a week we oughta put signs up on 85 and warn people away from the city." Lori shared "folks got no idea what they're getting into." Amy shared "well, we haven't had time." Shane shared, grabbing his hat and standing up "I think we need to make time." Lori told him, as Shane took a deep breath "yeah, that, uh..that's a luxury we can't afford. We are surviving here. We are day to day." he shared.

"And who the hell would you propose we send?" Dale asked "I'll go, give me a vehicle." Lori told them "nobody goes anywhere alone. You know that." Shane shared, as Lori began walking off "yes, sir." she told him, as Carl ran after her, Shane walked up to him "hey, hey, go on. Take a seat, bud. You're all right. GO on. You're all right." he told him, and as he did, Carl turned around seeing Katniss grabbing her knife and her arrows, she began walking off and as she did, Carl followed after her.
