047. A WELCOME PARTY

Chapter forty seven

"A welcome party."

They all had officially decided that they were gonna sleep in their own homes, where in the one they had been staying in, Rick, Carl, Michonne, Judith, Katniss, Daryl and Carol all stayed in that one, where having her own room was definitley a strange feeling for Katniss seeing as when she grew up, she lived in a cabin or was always at camping and on the move so sleeping on a actual mattress was gonna be a weird feeling compared to the ones from the prison, as a knock came to the door, Katniss turned her head and walked over to it "it's just me." Carl told her, as Katniss opened the door, Carl stepped inside.

Katniss went to shut it, but something about doing that with Carl in her room felt strange, as she left it open a crack, she turned to Carl "can you believe your dad's a cop again?" she asked, as Carl chuckled "stopping what? Kids running on the street?" he asked, sitting down on her bed "well whatever it is I know my dad doesn't like it." she shared, walking over and sitting next to him "your dad doesn't really like it here." Carl shared "I don't either." Katniss told him, as her and Carl's hands brushed against each other's.

Where the two were then lying there staring at the ceiling, as a knock came to the door, it opened, as Carol walked in, she noticed the two "we've all been invited to Deana's welcome party tonight." she shared, as Katniss sat up on her elbows "a welcome party?" she asked "mm-hmm. Which means you out." Carol told him, pointing to the door, Carl chuckled, as he got off the bed, he walked around the bed and behind Carol looking at Katniss with raised brows, Katniss looked at him with wide eyes, as Carol turned Carl "out!" she voiced, as Carl turned heading out, Katniss got up to walk to her closet, as Carol stopped her "no, you shower. I'll pick out your outfit." she told her, as she shoved Katniss out of her room, Katniss's eyes were wide.

Having come back from the bathroom in her robe, Katniss walked into her room and as she did, there was a burgundy dress on the bed but what caught Katniss's eyes were the shoes down at the bottom, as she picked them up and furrowed her brows at the burgundy heeled shoes.

Where when she wore the burgundy dress it had straps and was off the shoulder and was short in the front and longer in the back, and her hair was in a pony tail, as the front two pieces framed her face, Carol had put makeup on her face and even used something that covered up the bite mark and scar on her arm.

Although walking to Deana's Katniss began to realize how hard it was to walk in these shoes, as she stumbled over, she quickly caught her balance again, as Carol who was walking in front of her with a tray of cookies, chuckled "we found something you can't do." she shared "I could use these shoes to kill a walker." Katniss told her, as Carol walked up the steps to the house, Katniss followed her "remember to smile." Carol told her, opening the door, she walked in and as she did, Katniss followed in behind her, as she shut the door behind them, Carol began walking off and as she did, Katniss followed behind her.

Where as day turned into night, Katniss was looking at all the food on the table, not knowing what half of it was, where she didn't notice Ron looking at her "is that Katniss?" he asked, and as he did, Mikey and Carl turned looking in her direction "yeah." Mikey said, and as Carl looked at her, he thought she looked beautiful, not that she didn't when she was covered in dirt or blood, and as he looked to his right, he saw that Mikey and Ron were looking at her the same way he was and he felt jealous, as he turned walking toward's her "hey." he told her, as Katniss looked to him "hey." she told him.

As the two stood there staring at each other and they did, Katniss felt her heartbeat pick up like she was nervous or scared, but there was no reason for her to be, this was Carl, but as he leaned toward's her, she knew he was gonna kiss her and as she looked past him and saw Mikey and Ron watching them, she couldn't take it, as she turned around and began walking off "Katniss." Carl told her, as he followed after her, the two moved through the people in the room "Katniss!" Carl called out, as Katniss made it to the front door, she opened it and walked out, closing it behind her, she headed down the steps and began walking down the road, practically running away from him.

Having gone back to the house, Katniss made it all the way up the stairs and into her room, as she shut the door behind her, she leaned against it and locked it, as she took her shoes off, she threw them across the room, as she went and fell face first onto her bed, not wanting to talk to anyone, especially not Carl.

Where the next morning, Katniss had gotten dressed, grabbing her bow an arrow, she headed outside, and walked in between the two houses, heading to the wall, she began climbing up the support beams and as she did, Rick who was walking between the two houses saw her climb over, as Katniss then began climbing down on the other side, she jumped down at the bottom, and turned walking into the woods.
