Silently, we went up the spiral staircase that led to Dumbledore's office.
"Sit down," he told us. "I have, as all of you, read the interview in the Quibbler, and I'm glad that the truth is out there. However, miss Black, you mentioned about your ability to Apparate, even though you are not of age, and you have no licence."
I opened my mouth to speak, but Dumbledore went on.
"I am also aware that mr Black is able to do the same. I have found a solution, fortunately, so you will be able to Apparate without the fear of possible expulsion."
Neville looked scared when he said that. We could be expelled?"I have two licences here," Dumbledore continued, "because it is better for you to earn them before the Ministry finds out you have been doing it illegally."
"How do we earn them?" I asked.
"It's quite easy. If you can Apparate, you get them. Are you two fully able to Apparate?"
"Yes," Neville said. "Without accidents, even."
"Good, good," Dumbledore said satisfied. "The Ministry will ask themselves why you are able to do it, being underage, and since it is not possible to do within Hogwarts grounds, but you will find that they have already enough to worry about. They do not have the time to think about two children able to Apparate." He paused a second.
"There is room enough here, will you two please show me?"We nodded and looked at each other.
"You go first," Neville whispered nervously. I rolled my eyes, and stood up. I looked at the other side of the room, and Apparated there. Then I Apparated back.
"Almost silent," Dumbledore muttered, more to himself then to me. "The spell worked really well indeed."
I smiled shortly and sat back down.
"Now you," I said to my twin.
Neville stood up nervously, aimed for the same place as me, and Apparated. He went back again, and looked proudly at me.
I smiled at him."Good job, both of you, you are fast learners." Dumbledore held up two licences, and gave me one, and Neville one.
"There you go. Don't lose it, keep it safe. And Jynx, one more thing," he said, as we stood up. "Your visions, they are of the future, and sometimes of the very near future, am I right?"
"Yes, Professor," I said.
"Tell me everytime you have them, no matter what. You may just be Seer, it is a very special gift."
I smiled. We had Divination with Firenze two days later, on the ground floor, because there was no way he would climb the spiral stairs. I walked with Neville into the classroom, but it looked nothing like it. It was as if we had entered into the Forest itself. The floor was covered with moss and trees and leaves were spread across the ceiling. I saw Firenze standing in the middle of the room- er- clearing, and waited for all of us to sit down on the floor.
"Professor Dumbledore has arranged this room for us," he then said. "I would have preferred to teach in the Forbidden Forest, but that is- since Monday- not longer possible."
"Please, sir," Parvati said. "We've been there before with Hagrid, we're not scared."
"It is not a question of bravery. I cannot return to the Forest. My herd has banished me."
"Why would they do that?" I asked.
"I have agreed to work for Professor Dumbledore, and they see that as a betrayal of our kind."Firenze then darkened the room, and the ceiling looked like a starlit sky.
"Lie back on the floor, and observe the stars. Here is written the fortune of our races."
We did so, and Firenze told us things about the stars, and since Trewlaney was just a human, she didn't know everything. The lesson was very different from Trewlaney's, and surprisingly more fun. We also had to burn certain leaves in a fire and look for signs in the fire, and it didn't seem to matter that we weren't able to see everything we were supposed to. Firenze said that it was because humans were hardly ever good at stuff like this, and that it even took centaurs years to learn it.~
The DA lessons were the only escape from our preperations for the O.W.L.s. Cedric actually taught us more advanced spells that even Harry didn't know yet. We also got to practice conjuring Patronuses. Seamus also joined the DA, and he was getting pretty good.
Neville was trying really hard, but only bits of silver smoke came from his wand. I didn't have so much trouble, although it was hard to think of something truly happy, which was the key to conjuring a Patronus.
"Look," Cedric said. "Expecto Patronum!" A squirrel hopped around me, and I smiled.
"What memory did you think of?" I asked him softly.
"You," he whispered. "You make me happy."
I blushed.
