After a while, we finally touched ground, and I followed Harry to a telephone box, the way in to the Ministry. The seven of us pushed ourselves into the small space, and after Ron dialed a certain number, a witch spoke to us, to say our names and business, and then we went down; it was a magical elevator. It stopped at the Atrium, the entrance hall, and we stumbled out.
There was no one, and the only sound came from a golden fountain, where stone witches, wizards, a centaur, a goblin and a house-elf stood around."Come on," Harry said, because he had been here before and knew the way. We went inside another elevator, and got out on 'Department of Mysteries'. We walked through a corridor, Harry opened a door, and we came in a circular room. Everything was black, which made it look darker and scarier. The only light came from candles with blue fire. The wall was covered in several doors. I walked towards one of them, when the wall started moving fast with a rumbling noise.
"What was that?" Ron asked.
"I think it stopped us from knowing what door we came through," Ginny said.
"Then how are we going back?" Neville asked fearfully.
"Doesn't matter now, we've got to find Sirius first," Harry said confidently.
"What way do we go now?" I asked.
"Well, in my dreams I went through this door, and then into a room that kind of... glitters."
"Let's try some doors, then," Hermione said.Harry walked towards one of the doors, and pushed it open with ease. Nervously, I exchanged looks with Neville, and went in. The room was lighter, but very empty. There were a few desks, and in the middle of the room was a large tank with a green substance, and there were things floating in it. I looked closer.
"What are they?" Ron whispered. We decided it was best to keep as quiet as possible. I suddenly felt a weird kind of disgust.
"I think they're brains," I said.
"Brains?"Harry walked over to look.
"Let's get out of here, we'll try another door."
"There are doors here, too," Ron said, pointing at the wall.
"Damn," I whispered. This was going to take ages.
We went into the circular room again, and before Luna shut the door, Hermione said: "Flagrate!"
A fiery X appeared on the door, so we knew what room we already had seen. When it shut, the wall spun around again.
It stopped, and we went into the second room.It was quite different from the last one. It was much bigger, darker, and had a big pit in the centre. Around the room were benches, that led down. In the centre of the pit was an archway of stone, that looked very old.
There was a veil in it, that swayed lightly.
Harry went down towards it.
"Sirius?" he asked, as though the veil would give answers.
"There's nobody there, Harry," Hermione called.
"What are you saying?" Harry asked loudly.
Nobody's talking!" Hermione said. "Come on, let's go back!"
"Someone's whispering behind it," Harry said. "Can anyone else hear them?"
"I hear them too," Luna said dreamy.
The whispers seemed to come not from behind the veil, but from within it. It was as if people were calling.
"I can hear it," I said, moving further toward the benches."Come on, this isn't right!" Hermione called again. "We're supposed to look for Sirius!"
"Sirius..." Harry said, and he blinked, coming back to reality. If I reached out, could I get those people back here?
"Come on," Hermione said, tugging at my arm. Ginny and Neville both looked at the veil, and Ron grabbed their arms and dragged them towards the door, while Hermione got a hold of Harry.I shivered when Hermione put another X on the door. What was that?
We went for another door, but that one was locked.
"This is it, then!" Ron said, exitedly. He and Harry threw their weight at the door, but it didn't budge.
"Alohomora!" Hermione tried, but again, nothing happened.
"Sirius's knife!" Harry said.
"What?" I said.
"A knife, I got from Sirius," Harry said, showing it to me. "It's bound to open any door."
He placed the knife between the door and the wall, and tried to throw his shoulder at it again, but it still remained shut. I looked at the knife. The blade had melted.
"Well, that's not good," I said.
"Do you know what could be in there?" Luna said exitedly.
"Something dangerous, probably," Hermione said, and Neville laughed nervously.
