As the doctor finished her sentence, Lena's heart skipped a beat. "Looks like you're having a baby girl!" the doctor announced with a warm smile, pointing to the screen.

Lena turned to Que, her eyes wide, the reality of it all settling in. A girl. They were having a daughter. The room was filled with a sense of awe and excitement that seemed to take over everything else.

Que grinned from ear to ear, his hand still holding Lena's tightly. "A girl," he repeated softly, almost like he was sayin' it to himself, tryna make it real. "We havin' a girl."

Lena couldn't stop the tears from wellin' up in her eyes. The sound of their baby's heartbeat filled the room as they both stared at the ultrasound screen, takin' it all in. It was more than just findin' out the gender—it was the reality of bringin' a new life into the world, a life that would change everything for both of them.

After the Appointment

On the drive home, neither of them could stop talkin' about the news. It was like a weight had been lifted, and they were both floatin' on a cloud of happiness. Lena could feel Que's excitement radiatin' from him, and it made her heart swell.

"Can you believe it?" Que said, his voice filled with awe. "A little girl, Lena. She's gon' have us wrapped around her finger from day one."

Lena laughed, feelin' lighter than she had in weeks. "I already know. She's not even here yet, and she already got me actin' soft."

When they got back to Lena's place, Que insisted on stayin' a little longer, helpin' her get settled. The rest of the day was filled with baby talk, from potential names to what color to paint the nursery. Every now and then, Lena would catch Que starin' at her, a look of love and admiration in his eyes that made her feel like maybe, just maybe, things were fallin' into place.

The Talk Continues

Later that evening, after they'd eaten dinner, Lena found herself sittin' on the couch, her hand resting on her belly as she thought about the future. Que sat down next to her, his presence warm and comfortin'.

"You ever think about what kinda dad you gon' be?" Lena asked, lookin' over at him.

Que chuckled, scratchin' the back of his head. "Yeah, I think about it all the time. I wanna be the best dad I can be. I ain't gon' lie—I'm a little scared. But I'm ready for it. I'm ready to be there for her."

Lena smiled, feelin' a deep sense of peace. "You're gonna be a great dad, Que. I already know that."

They sat in comfortable silence for a while, the weight of the day finally settlin' in. As much as Lena was excited about the baby, she knew there was still so much they had to figure out—about themselves, about their relationship, about their future.

The Future Unfolds

Before Que left that night, he turned to Lena, his voice soft. "I know we still got stuff to work out, but today... today was good. I felt like we was gettin' somewhere."

Lena nodded, her heart feelin' full. "Yeah, it was. I'm glad you were there."

Que smiled, leanin' in to kiss her gently on the forehead. "I'm always gon' be here, Lena. For you and for her."

As he left, Lena sat back on the couch, her thoughts racin'. They still had a long way to go, but today had given her hope. Maybe they could make it work after all. Maybe this baby girl was the start of somethin' new, somethin' better than either of them could've imagined.
