A few days later, Lena was gettin' ready for bed when her phone buzzed unexpectedly. She glanced at the screen, seein' a message from Que. It was late, and he usually didn't reach out at this hour, so her heart skipped a beat as she opened the message.Que: Can I come by? Need to talk.
Lena felt a sense of unease but quickly replied with a short, Sure, I'm here.
A little while later, Que arrived, his face holdin' a seriousness she rarely saw. He stepped inside, givin' her a quick hug, but his mind seemed somewhere else. She gestured for him to sit, and they settled in the living room, Lena watchin' him closely.
"What's goin' on, Que? You look... different."
He took a deep breath, rubbin' his hands together, tryin' to find the right words. "Lena, there's somethin' I need to tell you. I've been wantin' to say it for a while, but... it's just been hard."
Lena's stomach tightened, but she kept her voice steady. "Go ahead. I'm listenin'."
The Truth Unfolds
Que glanced away, strugglin' to meet her eyes. "Remember that night you saw me at the party? The one before you left for school?"
She nodded, a small frown on her face. "Yeah... why?"
He swallowed hard, takin' a deep breath. "There was... somethin' that happened that night. I was upset, drinkin', and... I made a mistake."
Lena felt a cold realization settlin' over her, but she forced herself to stay calm. "What are you sayin', Que?"
He finally looked at her, guilt in his eyes. "That girl... Layla. I... I ended up spendin' the night with her."
Lena's heart dropped, her mind racin' as she processed his words. She'd trusted him, believed he hadn't crossed that line. Now, hearin' him admit to it felt like a betrayal she hadn't been prepared for.
She took a deep breath, strugglin' to keep her composure. "So... you lied to me? This whole time?"
Que nodded, his face showin' the weight of his guilt. "I know, and I'm sorry, Lena. I just... I didn't want to hurt you. And now she's sayin' she's pregnant, and it could be mine."
The room fell into silence, the weight of his confession hangin' between them. Lena felt a mix of anger, hurt, and betrayal. She'd trusted him, built a life with him, and now he was tellin' her about a mistake that could change everything.
Lena's Response
After a long pause, Lena finally spoke, her voice shakier than she wanted it to be. "I need you to leave, Que. I need to think. I can't... I can't do this right now."
Que nodded, respectin' her wishes. "I understand, and I'm sorry, Lena. I'll give you the space you need. Just know... I never wanted this to happen. I love you."
He got up slowly, givin' her one last look before he headed to the door. As he left, Lena felt the weight of his words sinkin' in, realizin' that her world had shifted in a way she never expected.
Once he was gone, Lena sat in silence, the ache in her chest growin' as she thought about the life she'd been buildin' with Que and the future she'd imagined for their family. Now, she didn't know what to think, what to feel.
She placed her hand on her belly, a single tear rollin' down her cheek as she whispered to her daughter, "It's just you and me, baby girl. I'll always be here for you. No matter what."
As the night stretched on, Lena stayed awake, her thoughts driftin' between anger, sadness, and the deep love she felt for her unborn child. She knew she'd have to make some tough choices in the days to come, but one thing was clear—she was ready to protect her daughter with everything she had, no matter what that meant for her relationship with Que.
