Que sat in his car, grippin' the steering wheel as thoughts swirled through his mind. He knew he'd messed up—lied to Lena, broke her trust. He didn't know what he'd do if this news came out now, so close to the baby's arrival. He felt trapped between tellin' her the truth and riskin' losin' her forever, or waitin' until the baby was born and hopin' for a chance to explain.

The only thing he could do now was try to make things right, somehow. He couldn't bear the thought of losin' her or their daughter over one mistake, but the fear that Lena would never forgive him kept him silent. He didn't want her feelin' that kind of betrayal while she was pregnant, so he'd decided to keep the truth hidden—at least until after the baby came.

Seeking Advice

Que pulled up to his best friend Malik's place, lookin' for someone to talk to. Malik had known him long enough to see through his calm facade, so Que didn't hold back when he walked in, his voice tense.

"Man, I need to talk to you," Que said, leanin' against the wall, his face showin' the weight he was carryin'.

Malik shook his head, watchin' Que with a look of disappointment. "So, what happened? You finally tell Lena the truth?"

Que sighed, lookin' down. "Nah, I can't tell her right now, man. She's too far along, and I don't wanna stress her out. But I feel like I'm walkin' on thin ice. I lied to her, and she thinks nothin' happened with Layla. Now Layla's claimin' she's pregnant, and I don't even know if it's mine. But if it is, I don't know what to do."

Malik let out a long sigh, shakin' his head. "You know, Q, you might've just officially lost her over this. Even if the baby ain't yours, you lied. You told her nothin' happened, and that's somethin' she's gon' struggle to forgive."

Que rubbed his face, the reality hittin' him hard. "I know, man. But I can't let her go like this. I love her."

Malik crossed his arms, his expression stern. "If you love her, you should've been honest from the jump. Lena's smart, Q. She might already feel somethin's off. You keep this up, and you're diggin' yourself deeper. But maybe, maybe after the baby's here, she'll hear you out."

Que nodded, feelin' Malik's words sink in. It wasn't what he wanted to hear, but he knew Malik was right. "I'm prayin' that the baby's not mine. I just... I need a chance to make this right."

Malik gave him a sympathetic nod. "Well, whatever happens, you got some serious work ahead of you, bro."

Back at the House

Later that evening, Que pulled up to the house he still kept in Lena's hometown. The emptiness of the place hit different without her there. It felt like just another reminder of what he could lose if things went south. He took a shower, tryin' to clear his head, but his mind kept driftin' back to Lena.

After dryin' off, he called her, wantin' to check in. Her voice on the other end instantly softened his mood.

"Hey," she greeted, soundin' tired but happy.

"Hey, beautiful," he replied, a small smile playin' on his lips. "Just wanted to check on you and the baby. Everything good?"

"Yeah, we're good," Lena replied, her tone light. "Actually, the girls are throwin' me a baby shower soon, so I'll be headin' back there in about a month. I'll come back here right after, though. Baby girl's due real soon."

Que's heart skipped a beat at the thought of seein' her again. "Good. I'm glad you'll be close. I'll be there for the shower, and of course, I'll be there when she gets here."

There was a pause on her end before she spoke softly, "Thanks, Que. I'm glad you're around. I want us to be good... for her."

He nodded, knowin' she couldn't see him, but hopin' she felt it. "We will be, Lena. I'm workin' on it."

Lingering Doubts

As he hung up, Que's heart felt heavy. He knew the time would come when he'd have to tell her everything, and he could only pray that when that day arrived, she'd find it in her heart to give him a second chance. But as he lay in bed that night, he couldn't shake the fear that maybe he'd already lost her, that the weight of his lie was too much to fix.

With a deep breath, Que closed his eyes, prayin' that things would somehow turn out alright—that Lena wouldn't leave, that the baby with Layla wasn't his, and that, in the end, he could still have the family he'd dreamed of with Lena.
