The days started feelin' longer without Que around. Lena tried to keep herself busy with Amina and her schoolwork, but it was hard not havin' him there, knowin' he was out takin' care of things for their future. Her mom checked in daily, and security was always close, like Que promised, but there was still that emptiness she felt without him by her side.

Mornin's would come, and she'd start her day with Amina, feedin' her, talkin' to her, lettin' baby girl's laughter fill the house. Lena took every chance to distract herself from worryin', but every time she thought 'bout Que, she'd catch herself starin' out the window, wonderin' if he was good, if he was safe.

Girls' Night In

A few days later, Jade and Renee came over, bringin' food and all the good energy Lena needed to lift her mood. They spread out in the livin' room, orderin' takeout, laughin' about old memories, and just enjoyin' some girl time.

Jade nudged Lena with a smirk. "So, how you holdin' up with Que gone? You know he gon' be back in no time."

Lena rolled her eyes but laughed, tryin' to play it off. "Girl, I'm makin' it. Ain't like I got a choice. But it do feel strange not havin' him here."

Renee chimed in, noddin'. "Well, we here for you. And when he come back, you know he gon' make up for lost time."

They all laughed, knowin' how true that was. The night went on, filled with laughter, good food, and the comfort that only her girls could bring. It helped ease the ache she'd been carryin', remindin' her that she had a strong circle holdin' her down.

Late-Night Thoughts

After Jade and Renee left, Lena checked on Amina, makin' sure her baby girl was sleepin' soundly. Then, she curled up in bed, lettin' herself finally breathe out all the emotions she'd been holdin' in. She missed Que, and more than anything, she wanted him back safe.

She reached for her phone, scrollin' through their old messages, readin' his words, his promises to her. She knew deep down he was doin' this for them, for their family, but sometimes the waitin' was harder than she wanted to admit.

Just as she was 'bout to put her phone down, a text came through from Que: "Miss you, baby. Be home soon."

Lena smiled, feelin' a little piece of her heart settle. She replied, "Miss you too. Can't wait."

As she drifted off to sleep, she held onto that, lettin' herself believe that soon, he'd be walkin' through the door, back where he belonged.
