Lena was now around eight months pregnant, and with each passing day, the reality of their baby girl's arrival grew closer. She could feel the weight of the final month approaching, and the excitement had only built up for the big day her friends had planned—the baby shower.

A couple of weeks later, Lena pulled up to the event space, her heart full as she took in the sight. Her best friend Jade had gone all out, deckin' the place in soft pinks, whites, and touches of gold. The room was filled with flowers, balloons, and banners that read "Welcome, Baby Girl!" Lena could barely keep the smile off her face as she walked inside, greeted by a chorus of cheers and hugs.

Her family, Que's family, friends, and even Que's boys had all shown up, fillin' the room with laughter and love. Tables were set up with all kinds of delicious food, and the decorations felt like a dream come true. Jade's attention to detail made everything feel perfect, from the floral centerpieces to the cozy seating areas set up for everyone to relax and chat.

Showered with Love

As the shower went on, everyone took turns showerin' Lena and her baby girl with gifts. There were soft blankets, adorable onesies, tiny shoes, and even a few sentimental family heirlooms. Que's family gifted Lena a silver bracelet for the baby, with charms that symbolized each milestone they hoped she'd reach. Lena's mom had even saved a few things from when Lena was a baby, bringin' them out to pass down to her granddaughter.

Que's friends showed up too, offerin' him fatherly advice, jokes, and a few baby gifts of their own. The entire room was filled with warmth, laughter, and joy for the new chapter in Lena and Que's life. Lena could see the pride in Que's eyes as he looked around the room, takin' it all in, his gaze always driftin' back to her with a smile.

After the Baby Shower

Once the shower wrapped up, Lena headed back to her parents' place, her arms filled with baby gifts. She brought a few things inside but left most of it packed in the car, knowin' she'd be takin' it all back home. After a hot shower, she put on some comfy clothes, feelin' the weight of the day in her body but also a deep sense of happiness.

A little while later, Que showed up, knockin' gently on the door before comin' inside. He found her sittin' on the floor in the living room, sortin' through some of the baby stuff, a soft smile on her face.

Que sat down next to her, lookin' at the tiny clothes and toys. He picked up a small pink hat, chucklin' as he held it up. "She's gon' have me wrapped around her finger, huh?"

Lena laughed, noddin'. "Oh, definitely. You're never gonna be able to tell her no. She'll have you doin' whatever she wants."

They both laughed, a sense of peace settlin' between them as they sorted through the gifts. They were ready to welcome their little girl, ready to build a family they'd only dreamed of before.

The Future Talk

As they talked, Lena hesitated for a moment before bringin' up somethin' that had been on her mind. She looked over at Que, her voice soft. "So... I've been thinkin'. After I finish school, when she's maybe two or three, I was thinkin' about movin' to another state. Start fresh somewhere new. How would you feel about that?"

Que looked at her, his expression serious but supportin'. "Wherever you and baby girl go, I'll be there. No question."

A smile spread across Lena's face, relief and gratitude fillin' her heart. "You're really gonna be such a great dad, Que. I can already tell."

He reached over, takin' her hand and squeezin' it gently. "I'll do whatever it takes, Lena. For you and our girl. This is our family."

In that moment, surrounded by baby clothes and the warmth of their families' support, Lena felt a new kind of hope. No matter where life took them, she knew they'd find a way to make it work—for their daughter and for each other.
