The morning sun filtered through the curtains as Lena woke up, a feeling of warmth surrounding her. She glanced over to see Que still sleeping beside her, a peaceful expression on his face. The memories of the previous night washed over her, filling her with a mix of emotions—love, hope, and a small sense of uncertainty. She knew that despite their closeness, they still had things to figure out, especially with the unresolved situation of Layla's pregnancy hanging over them.

Amina's soft cries broke the quiet, pulling Lena from her thoughts. She slipped out of bed, carefully getting up to tend to her baby girl, who was awake and smiling as soon as she saw her mama's face. Lena couldn't help but smile back, feeling a renewed sense of purpose as she lifted Amina into her arms.

Que stirred, opening his eyes and offering Lena a sleepy smile. "Good mornin'," he murmured, watching her as she gently bounced Amina in her arms.

"Mornin'," Lena replied softly, a slight smile on her lips. She took a breath, knowing this was a moment they needed to have a real conversation. "Que, we need to talk."

He nodded, his expression turning serious as he sat up, fully awake now. "Yeah... I know."

A Real Talk

After settling Amina with her grandparents in the living room, Lena and Que went to the kitchen, where they could talk openly. Lena poured herself a glass of water, then turned to face him, her gaze steady.

"Que," she began, choosing her words carefully. "Last night was... special. But we can't just ignore everything that's happened. I need to know where we stand."

Que took a deep breath, running a hand over his face. "Lena, I get it. I know I messed up, and I hate that this situation with Layla is even a thing. But I need you to know somethin'—I never stopped lovin' you, and I'm willin' to do whatever it takes to make this right."

Lena felt her heart soften, but she kept her focus. "Que, I love you too, but I can't ignore the fact that another baby might be in the picture. I need honesty from you, now more than ever."

He nodded, his expression sincere. "I'm gonna get that test done as soon as Layla's baby is born. I don't think it's mine, but I know we need to know for sure."

She sighed, feeling a weight lift slightly at his words. "Good. Because I can't do this if there are secrets between us. Amina deserves a life where her parents are together and honest with each other."

Que reached for her hand, his touch warm. "I promise, Lena. I'm gonna make this right, for us and for her."

A Day Out with Family

After their talk, Lena felt a bit lighter. They decided to spend the day together with Amina, making the most of their time as a family. They went out for breakfast at a cozy café, laughing and enjoying each other's company as they fed Amina tiny bites of food.

The afternoon was spent back at Que's parents' house, where family and friends gathered, all eager to spend time with Amina. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and love, and for the first time in a long time, Lena felt like they were finally heading in the right direction.

Evening Reflections

As the evening drew to a close, Lena found herself standing on the back porch, watching the sun set in shades of pink and orange. Que joined her, slipping an arm around her waist.

"Thank you for today," she said, leaning into him. "It's been a long time since I felt this... peaceful."

Que nodded, his gaze warm. "This is what I want for us, Lena. A family, a life together, with no more mess. I'm gonna do whatever it takes to keep things right."

They stood in comfortable silence, both of them knowing that while challenges lay ahead, they were committed to making this work. And as they watched the sun disappear below the horizon, Lena felt hope stir within her heart, trusting that their love could carry them through anything.
