054. TELL YOUR SON TO STAY AWAY FROM MINE

Chapter fifty four

"Tell your son to stay away from mine." 

Running down the road, the walkers were right on them, as the gates of alexandria were right in front of them "open the gate!" Rick yelled "open the gate!" Scarlett yelled, as her and Rick kept running, the two dodged one of the walkers that came at them "open the gate now!" Rick yelled, as the gate opened, Michonne and Maggie were there, as Rick shoved the walker in front of him, he fell over, as Scarlett went down and pulled him off the ground, two walkers lunged at them, as the two quickly ducked underneath and dodged them as they ran to the gate, getting inside, the two fell down, as Maggie and Michonne closed it behind them, Rick put his hands on Scarlett's face, and leaned his head against her's, as the two lied their catching their breath.

They soon got up and began walking over to where everyone was standing by the wall listening to the walkers on the other side of it "you can hear it. Some of you saw it. They got back here, half of them. Still enough to surround us twenty deep. Look I know you're scared. You haven't seen anything like this. You haven't been through anything like this. But we're safe for now. The panel the truck hit seems intact. We reinforced it just incase. Either way, the wall's gonna hold together. Can you? The others, they're gonna be back." Rick shared "they're gonna be back." Rosita told them.

"Daryl, Abraham, Sasha, they have vehicles. They're gonna lead em away, just like the others. And Glenn and Nicholas are gonna walk back through the front gate after. They know what they're doing, and we know what we need to do. We keep noise to a minimum. Pull our blinds at night. Even better, keep the lights out." Rick shared, and as he did, Scarlett noticed that Ron looked away from him and when she looked at who got his attention it was Carl and when she looked back at Ron, he had his hand on his gun "we'll try to make this place as quiet as a graveyard, see if they move on." Rick shared.

As Scarlett watched Ron take his hand off his gun "this place is a graveyard." Francene said, as they all heard the growls, Aaron stepped forward "the quarry broke open and those walkers were heading this way. All of them. The plan that Rick put into place stopped that from happening. He got half of them away. I was out there recruiting with Daryl. I wanted to try to get into a cannery and scavenge, and Daryl wanted to keep looking for people. We did what I wanted and we wound up in a trap set by those people. And I lost my pack. They must've followed our tracks. Those people who attacked us, they found their way back here because of me." he shared.

As Deana walked off "they'll be more to talk about." Rick told them "Deana?" Tobin asked, as everyone looked to her "Deana?" Tobin asked again, but Deana didn't stop, as Rick turned walking off, Scarlett turned walking up to Carl, she put her arms and as she did, Carl hugged her back, as the two began walking off "Gabriel tried to talk to me. He said he wants to help, how he's ready to learn now. I told him I'd teach him how to use a machete." Carl shared "Carl, me or your dad aren't gonna let you help him. If he wants help I'm sure Rosita can teach him." Scarlett shared.

"But that..that was before they attacked us. I saw them coming in, I grabbed one of the guns and Carol had gone out to help. I protected Judith, made sure none of them got into the house. But I did see one of them, he was chasing Ron outside our house, I shot him in the leg. So I had to get close to him and he begged me not to kill him and I..I hesitated and he grabbed me, tried to take my gun but I shot him." Carl shared "Carl.." Scarlett told him "I told Ron to come inside, that I could keep him safe. Enid was with me. He told me no and ran off." Carl told her.

As Scarlett stopped, turning and looking at Carl "Carl, how long have you been hanging out with Enid?" she asked him "she climbs over the walls, I've followed her twice. Once the day me, you and dad killed those walkers. And the day when you and Pete. And I went and found her the night of the meeting. But she..she went over the wall before the herd came." Carl shared, as Scarlett put her hands on his shoulders "I don't care about her. I care about you. So listen to me very carefully. You do not go over that wall whatsoever. You have your gun and your knife on you at all times. If you hear footsteps behind you, you look. If someone aims a gun at you, you either disarm them or shoot them. Do you understand?" she asked.

And when she did, Carl knew it wasn't just about the herd outside, something else was going on, on the inside "I understand." he told her, as Scarlett nodded, kissing him on the head, she turned walking off, and as she did, Carl watched her go.

Having gone to find Rick, Scarlett found him keeping watch as she climbed up the latter, Rick turned looking at her "you talk to Carl?" he asked, as Scarlett nodded "Carl shot one of them in the leg, but then the man tricked him, making him think he should spare his life. He hesitated. The man grabbed him, tried to take his gun. We're lucky enough that Carl shot him instead." she shared, as Rick furrowed his brows "there's something else. What is it?" he asked her "well.." Scarlett told him "hey, Rick? Scarlett?" Ron asked, as Scarlett and Rick looked to him "can I come up?" Ron asked.

"Yeah." Rick told him, as Ron climbed up, looking out at all the walkers "you haven't seen it." Rick said "no. Enid, she, uh..she used to sneak over the walls, spend time out there. i don't know why she just wanted to. But, um..I think she went out there after the attack." Ron shared "I know Carl told me." Scarlett told him "and she's still out there?" Rick asked "Rick." Scarlett told him, knowing there was a bigger problem then a girl over the wall "we don't know where she is. You know, but she knows how to take care of herself. And we can't go out there. Carl wanted to try." Ron shared.

As Scarlett looked to him "I already told him not to go." she told him "well he listened cause I saw him back at the house. Home on the porch with Judith. I can keep guard, if you want." Ron told them, and as Scarlett looked to him, she knew all she had to do was grab him and throw him over and Carl would be safe "I'm gonna go check on him." she told them, stepping around Ron "I told you I saw him at home." Ron told her "mm-hmm." Scarlett told him, climbing down the latter, and turning and walking off, Rick watched her go.

But Scarlett didn't head home, she headed to the Anderson house, as she walked up the front porch, knocking on the door, she crossed her arms, standing there and waiting for the door to open, it soon did, as Jesse was standing there "Scarlett, look it's not a really good time..." she told her "it never is. But I need you to hear me or else I might have to do something that I really don't want to do." Scarlett shared, as Jesse furrowed her brows "what are you talking about?" she asked her "your son, Ron? I need him to stay away from Carl." Scarlett told her "what? Why? What did he do?" Jesse asked her "nothing. Yet. So either deal with your son or I'll deal with him myself." Scarlett shared, turning and walking off the porch.

That night, Scarlett was standing in the doorway of Carl's room, watching him sleep, she heard the front door open, as she leaned forward, closing Carl's bedroom door, she turned walking down the hallway and heading downstairs "your still up?" Rick asked her, but Scarlett didn't say anything as she walked to the kitchen "Scar?" Rick asked, following after her "Jesse..Jesse told me what you said. You told her son to stay away from Carl but you didn't..you didn't give her a reason except for..for that she either deals with him or you deal with him yourself what..what's going on? You..you can tell me." he shared.

As Scarlett put her hands on the counter, she turned and looked at him "when you were giving your speech earlier, I saw Ron look at someone and when I looked it was Carl. And when I looked back, he had his hand on his gun. And that's..that's why I told Carl to look behind him if he hear's footsteps. To..to keep his knife and gun on him at all times. To not hesitate if someone points a gun at him!" she voiced, as Rick stepped toward's her "okay. Okay." he told her, putting his hands on her face "Scar.." he told her "when he was up there? I wanted to kill him. I thought about throwing him over cause if I did Carl lives. So instead I chose to warn his mother because if her son comes near ours again? I'll him myself." Scarlett shared.

And as she did, Rick kissed her and as he did, Scarlett kissed him back, bringing her arms up around his neck and pulled him closer to her, and as she did, Rick brought his hands down to her waste, picking her up, Scarlett wrapped her legs around his waste, Rick walked closer to the kitchen island, lying her down on it, he climbed on top of her, as Scarlett began unbuttoning his shirt, Rick began kissing her on the neck.
