Chapter seventy four

"Here is the place where I love you."

Scarlett and Rick were still in shock, as muffled explosions could be heard in the distance, Carl looked at them both, as another explosion went off "I..I don't.." Rick said "dad." Carl said "how.." Rick said "dad..." Carl said "how..was it him?" Scarlett asked, pointing to the man behind them "mom, it's all right. It's gotta be." Carl shared "no." Scarlett said, turning around "get him out of my sight before I kill him myself!" she voiced "mom.." Carl said, as grabbing her hand, Scarlett turned to him "I wasn't sure if you two were gonna make it back before..but just in case, you know.." Carl shared, pulling out letters.

"I wanted to make sure I was able to say goodbye." he shared, handing them to Scarlett "it's..it's them..they..they don't..it wasn't.." Rick said, as Scarlett was crying "no, no.." she said "no." Rick said "I got bit. I was bringing someone back." Carl shared "I don't care." Scarlett told him "his name's Siddiq. We saw him at that gas station, before..it wasn't the saviors. It wasn't him. It just happend." Carl shared, as Scarlett leaned toward's kissing him on the head "I got bit." Carl said, as Scarlett pulled him into her arms "oh my baby.." she said, her voice breaking, as she was crying, Carl held onto her.

"I, um, I got these." Siddiq said, as Rick looked to him "there over the counter and non steroidal anti inflammatory. They'll help a little with the fever. They did for my mom and dad. Please take them." Siddiq shared, as Scarlett turned to him "no. We don't want anything from you. Didn't you hear me? You killed our kid! I want you out of my face! I want you out of my life! So before I kill you! Get out of my face!" she voiced, as Daryl handed Judith to Rosita, he stood up "Scarlett.." he said "get him out of here!" Scarlett voiced, as Daryl grabbed Siddiq moving him away from them.

As another explosion went off, the whole sewer shook, as Carl started coughing, Scarlett turned to him "it's okay. It's okay." Scarlett told him, letting him cough into her hand, as Rick grabbed the water, he turned to them "shh. Shh." he said, giving him water "slowly, slowly." he told him, Carl was grunting, as he held on tight to Scarlett "I'm right here. I'm right here." Scarlett told him, running her hand through his hair, as another explosion went off.

More were happening "you left. You were supposed to stay." Carl shared "someone needed to get your dad." Scarlett shared "it's gonna stop, mom. It's not supposed to be like this. I know it can be better. Especially for my brother or sister." Carl shared, as Rick grabbed Carl's hand, Daryl walked back with Judith, as Rick stood up "want me to go take a look?" Daryl asked, handing Judith to Rick, he turned walking off, but stopped looking back at Scarlett holding Carl in her arms before walking off.

Rick then sat down holding Judith as he looked at Scarlett and Carl, Michonne came walking up to them as Rick stood up "the saviors are gone. We can get everyone to hilltop. We can get Carl there." Michonne shared "Carl? No." Rick told her "Daryl can get one of the cars." Michonne shared "Carl won't make..he can't leave here. Me and Scarlett are gonna stay with him." Rick shared "Rick." Michonne told him "he can't. We have to stay. Will you..will you take Judith? She needs to be there. If she.." Rick said, his voice breaking "if.." he said, looking to Scarlett and Carl, Scarlett was leaning her head on top of his "happens." Rick said, looking back at them.

"We'll take her." Daryl said, walking up "we'll get her there. We'll keep her safe." Daryl shared, as Michonne nodded "we got this." Daryl told him "let me say goodbye." Carl said, as Rick crouched down, Judith looked at Carl and it made Scarlett start crying again "you be good, okay? Look out for mom and dad. For your brother or sister. You honor em. Listen when they tell you stuff. You don't have to always. Sometimes, kids gotta show their parents the way." Carl shared, as he grabbed the hat "this was dad's before it was mine. Now it's gonna be yours but mom's gonna hold onto it for you. I don't know..just..just having it and..it always kept dad with me. It made me feel as strong as him. It helped me. Maybe it'll help you, too and your brother or sister. Before mom died..she told me I was gonna beat this world. I didn't. But you and your brother or sister will. I know you will." he shared.
