Chapter forty four

"We should go to Washington."

They had found a place to bury Beth, as they all were standing around her grave, where after they had then found two new vehicles for all of them to drive around in, where when night came, Scarlett was holding Judith in her arms, as Carl sat next to her leaning his head on her shoulder, Rick was watching them from the back of the van sitting next to Noah "she was gonna come with me." Noah told him "how far?" Rick asked "outside Richmond, Virginia." Noah shared, as Rick looked from him back at Scarlett.

Where by the morning, they all were discussing it "it was secure. It has a wall, homes, twenty people. Beth wanted to go with him. She wanted to get him there. It's a long trip, but if it works out, it's the last long trip we have to make." Rick shared "and what if it isn't around anymore?" Glenn asked "then we do what we always have and keep going." Scarlett shared "then we find a new place." Michonne said, as they all got back in the cars, they began driving toward's Richmond Virginia.

Making it there, they had left the others in a safe place, as Tyreese, Noah, Rick, Scarlett, Michonne and Glenn were making the drive to the neighborhood "how far out?" Rick asked "five miles." Noah told him, as Rick brought up the walkie, pressing down on the button "hey, Carol." he said, letting it go "I'm here." Carol said, as Rick pressed down on the button "we're halfway there. Just wanted to check the range." he shared, letting go of it "everybody's holding tight. We've made it five hundred miles. Maybe this can be the easy part." Carol shared.

As Rick pressed down on the button "gotta think we're due. Give us twenty minutes to check in." he shared, letting go of it "we don't hear from you, we'll come looking." Carol told them, as Rick pressed down on the button "copy that." he said, letting it go, Scarlett felt something in her pocket and when she pulled it out, it was Judith's wooden horse, Michonne chuckled "she's not gonna be happy about that." she told her "she's been liking her bunny for a while now so hopefully that'll be enough." Scarlett shared, putting it back in her pocket.

"It went the way it had to. The way it was always going to." Tyreese said, talking to Noah "I never wanted to kill anybody before." Noah shared "I've wanted that. But it just made it so I didn't see anything except what I wanted. I wasn't facing it." Tyreese shared "facing what?" Noah asked "what happened, what's going on. My dad always told Sasha and me that it was our duty as citizens of the world to keep up with the news. When I was little and I was in his car, there were always these stories on the radio. Something happens a thousand miles away or down the block. Some kind of horror I couldn't even wrap my head around. But he didn't change the channel. He didn't turn it off. He just kept listening. To face it. Keeping your eyes open. My dad always called that paying high consolation." Tyreese shared.

"I lost my dad in Atlanta. Think he would've liked yours. Still got a mom and a couple twins brothers. I hope."  Noah told him "I hope so, too." Tyreese told him, as Noah looked to Rick "two more miles." he said "all right. Let's pull into the woods. We'll go on foot. Stay off the road." Rick shared "we don't need to." Noah told him "just incase." Rick told him, looking down at the cd in his hand, he snapped it in half.

Having turned off into the woods, they parked by a tree, as they got out of the car "this is good. Through the trees, it might just look like part of the wreck." Rick shared, as a walker could be heard, it was trapped in one of the cars slamming it's hands on the window "it's this way." Noah told them, pointing behind them, he turned walking off, as Michonne, Scarlett, Rick, Glenn and Tyreese followed him.
