Chapter fifty seven

"Oh my baby."

Walking through the walkers, it was still working as the walkers moved right on by them, where they soon stopped somewhere where there weren't that many of them "all right, new plans. Flares from a few guns aren't enough. Too many walkers too spread out. We're not going to the armory. We need our vehicles back at the quarry. All of us drive. We'll need to round em up. We leave, we come back." Rick shared "that could work. Except Judith's not gonna make it all the way there." Scarlett shared "I'll take her." Gabriel said, as Scarlett snapped her head toward's him "no." she told him.

"I'll keep her safe in my church until you lead all the walkers away." Gabriel shared "and I'm just supposed to what put my faith god and trust that you can do this? I've seen what you can do. It doesn't exactly give me hope." Scarlett shared "I have to. I will." Gabriel told her, as Rick stepped toward's her "Scar..you..you have to trust him." he told her, and when he did, Scarlett took Judith out from underneath her poncho handing her to him, Gabriel took her and put her underneath his "shh. Shh." he said "take Sam." Jesse told him "no." Sam told her "yes, Sam, it would be safer." Jesse told him "I'm not leaving you." Sam told her.

"Sam.." Jesse said "mom, I'm not. I can keep going." Sam told her "Sam..." Jesse told him "I can keep going. Please. Please. Let's just go. Okay?" Sam asked her, as Jesse nodded "I'm going to keep her safe." Gabriel told them, and Scarlett didn't say anything "thank you." Rick told him, as Gabriel turned walking off, Scarlett and Rick watched him go "he's gonna make it, okay? I know it." Jesse told them "Sam." Rick said, taking his hand, Jesse held onto Sam's hand, as she then held onto Scarlett's hand, Scarlett held onto Carl's, Carl grabbed Ron's and Ron held hands with Michonne, they all began moving again.

Day soon turned into night as they were still walking through the walkers having not even left alexandria, as they were moving past the walkers, but then Sam let go of Rick's hand "Sam? Come on, come on." Jesse told him, as Sam started crying "sweetheart? Sam?" Jesse asked him "you can do it." Rick told him "Sam. Sam, come on." Jesse told him "come on, Sam." Rick told him "hey, Sam, you can do this. Sam, just look at mom." Ron told him "honey, you can do it. Sam, you're gonna get.." Jesse said, as Sam started whimpering "Sam, I want you to come with me." Jesse shared.

"I want to." Sam said "I need you to be strong." Jesse said, as the walker then came up behind him biting him in the right shoulder "mom!" Sam screamed, as the other walker bit him on the head another one then came in front of him eating him, Jesse screamed, Carl gripped onto Scarlett's hand and was trying to pull her away from her but Jesse wouldn't let Scarlett go, Jesse then screamed again "Jessie, Jessie, you have to let me go." Scarlett whispered to her, as a walker came up biting Jesse, Jesse screamed.

As Rick looked at Scarlett seeing Jesse's hand was still holding onto her's, he brought the axe up and swung it down, once, twice, three times, as Scarlett then fell back with Carl, the gun Carl took from Ron went flying, as Scarlett helped Carl stand up, Rick looked at them but as he did his eyes went wide, as they heard a hammer click, Scarlett and Carl turned around seeing Ron aiming a gun at them "you." Ron said, as the three of them stared at him with wide eyes "you." Ron said again, as Michonne came up behind him and stabbed him in the chest, the gun went off, as Scarlett and Rick stepped back.

Michonne pulled her sword out of him, as Ron's body fell to the floor, the walkers began eating him, as Scarlett and Rick looked to Carl, Carl looked at them and when he did, his right eye was missing "mom? Dad?" he asked, and Scarlett went to scream, as Rick put his hand over her mouth, as Carl's body fell to the ground, Rick handed Scarlett his axe and as he did, Scarlett moved forward and as she did, Rick went and picked Carl up, as Scarlett and Michonne looked at each other, and turned and began chopping down walkers in their path, Rick began following after them.

They had made it to the infirmary as Scarlett and Michonne killed the two walkers in front of them, they continued running as Rick followed behind them with Carl, where as they made it to the door, it opened, as Rick ran in with Carl, Scarlett and Michonne followed behind "this a gunshot?" Denise asked, as Rick laid Carl down on the table, Scarlett leaned down kissing him on the forehead, her and Rick were crying "handgun, close range." Michonne told her "please save him. Please." Rick said, but Scarlett couldn't find her words, as she looked around, she saw a machete, as dropped Rick's axe, she took the bed sheet off of her and walked over to it, picking it up, she turned walking to the door.

Rick looked at her and as he did, he knew what she was gonna do, as he took off his poncho, he crouched down grabbing his axe as he followed after her, Scarlett opened the door "what..what are you doing? Scarlett! Rick!" Michonne yelled, as Scarlett and Rick walked out, Rick closed the door behind them, walking out, there was a walker in front of him, as Scarlett swung the machete at it, she kicked it down, she then stepped down from the balcony, as Rick killed the one coming up to them, Scarlett swung the machete killing one of them, the other one tried to come at her, as she kicked it over, Rick killed it.

As one tried to come up behind him, Scarlett swung the machete killing it, another one them came up to her as Rick grabbed it by the neck, Scarlett went behind him killing the one coming up to him, Rick then killed the one he was holding onto, as the two then stood back to back swinging and killing every single one that came up to them, not leaving each other's sight, where the two began to be surrounded by them as they were killing the one's they could and shoving other's back, Michonne, Aaron, Heath and Spencer then ran out helping them kill them as they all stood back to back with them.

They kept killing them "knock em away. Drive em down." Rick told them, as Eric and Olivia came running out to join them "we can beat em. We can beat em!" Rick voiced, as they continued moving the street and killing the one's near them, the others who were hiding came out and joined them "drive em back. That's it. We can do this together!" Rick voiced, as they all kept killing them, Rick looked at Scarlett, Scarlett just kept killing them, as Rick went back to doing the same.

Where they soon made it to the wall "move it! Back up!" Rick voiced, as they all moved back, looking at the walkers around them, they continued killing them, where a fire then could be seen in the distance, as they all looked at it and noticed the walkers turning to follow it, Scarlett killed another one "don't let up!" Rick voiced, killing another one as well, they all began following them and killing them.

Where by the morning, all the walkers were dead, as they all were at the infirmary, in the back room, Carl was lying on the bed unconscious, as Scarlett was lying next to him, running her hand through his hair, he had a bandage over his eye, her other hand was holding as Rick sat by the bed, holding his hands around there's "I was wrong. I thought after living behind these walls for so long that..maybe they couldn't learn. But today..I saw what they could do, what we could do, if we work together. We'll rebuild the walls. We'll expand the walls. There'll be more there's gotta be more. Everything Deana was talking about..is possible. It's all possible. I see that now. When I was out there..with them..when it was over..when I knew we had this place again..I had this feeling. It took me a while to remember what it was..because I haven't felt it since I woke up in that hospital bed." Rick shared, crying.

And as he did, Scarlett was crying, as Rick put his hand on her head "I wanna show you the new world, Carl. I want to make it a reality for you. Please, Carl..let me show you." he shared, and when he did, Carl grabbed Scarlett's hand back "oh.." Scarlett said, crying "oh my baby.." she said, her voice breaking, as she leaned down, kissing him on the head, she leaned her head against his "my brave boy." she whispered to him, as Rick squeezed their hands back, he was crying too.
