019. FIND A PLACE TO STAY

Chapter nineteen

"Find a place to stay."

It had been a long winter, moving from place to place, never finding the one that Rick wanted, that they could fortify and call their own, because anytime they did find a place, it was only for a while before the walkers caught up to them and they were on the run again, walking up to a house, Rick and Scarlett were in the front, as T Dog was behind them followed by Daryl then Carl, as Rick and Scarlett looked at each other, the two then turned kicking in the front doors and shooting the two walkers in front of them, as they headed further into the house.

Carl ran ahead of them and stepped into the room, letting Rick and Scarlett go through, where to the left was there kitchen, as Rick held his hand out, Scarlett handed him the flashlight as the two of them headed straight into the closet in front of them, there wasn't much in there except a door in front of them, as Rick turned looking at Scarlett, Scarlett nodded as she had her gun up, Rick turned opening the door and when he did, Daryl on the other side of it, aiming his crossbow back at them, the two then brought their weapons down.

Scarlett then turned walking back the way they came, as Rick followed her, the two headed into the kitchen, where Carl seemed to be looking for if there was any food as the back door opened and Glenn and Maggie walked in, Rick and Scarlett then turned walking out of the kitchen, Glenn and Maggie followed behind them, where the two walked to the front door, Rick whistled for the others.

As Carol came walking in along with Beth, Lori who was now really pregnant and Hershel as they headed into the living room with the others, Scarlett and Rick closed the front doors and turned walking into the living room, T Dog was looking through the window on the left, as Scarlett and Rick went and looked out the window on the right, it was fine for now, the sound of cans being put down and opened could be heard, as Scarlett and Rick turned around looking at Carl, Rick walked over to him and picked the can up off the ground and when he looked at it, he turned throwing it across the room.

Scarlett was still looking the window as she noticed the walkers walking up "psst." she said, as everyone began to get up and head to the back door, Daryl went out first followed by Glenn, Maggie, T Dog, Lori, Carol, Beth, Carl, Hershel, and lastly Scarlett and Rick, heading back to their cars, they all got in them and drove off.

Where soon when they were away from any walkers, they stopped on the road to figure out where they were gonna go next, as Glenn and Maggie put the map out on their car, Hershel, Scarlett, Daryl and T Dog stood there, as Rick came walking up to them "we've got no place left to go." T Dog shared "when this herd meets up with this one, we'll be cut off. We'll never make it south." Maggie shared "what'd you say it's about a hundred fifty ahead?" Daryl asked "that was last week. It could twice that by now." Glenn shared.

"This river could've delayed them. If we move fast we might have a shot to tear right through there." Hershel shared "but see the thing is if this group joins with that one, there's a chance they'll break off and come there." Scarlett shared "so we're blocked." Maggie said "only thing to do is double back at twenty seven and swing toward greenville." Rick shared "yeah, we picked through that already. It's like we spent the winter going in circles." T Dog shared "yeah, I know. I know. At newnan will push west. Haven't through there yet. We can't keep going house to house. Need to find some place to hold up for few weeks." Rick shared, looking at Lori.

"Alright, is it cool if we get to the creek before we head out? Won't take long. We've gotta fill up on water. We can boil it later." T Dog shared, as him, Maggie and Glenn walked off "knock yourself out." Rick told them, as he looked to Scarlett "I know it's an impossible thing to ask but she can't take anymore. If we keep running like we are, her waters gonna break sooner then later. And the whole process will just draw more walkers." Scarlett shared, turning and walking off and when she did, she looked at Carl who had been keeping watch behind them all, where not only was her and Lori's relationship different now but so was her and Carl's.
