076. GODDAMN PSYCHOPATHS

Chapter seventy six

"Goddamn psychopaths." 

Having been holding onto each other for a while, Rick and Scarlett then got back in the van and drove to the hilltop, as they got out and walked up to the gates, the two had their arms around each other, not wanting to be away from each other "open the gates! It's Rick and Scarlett!" a man voiced, as the gates opened, Rick and Scarlett walked in, but what caught their attention was the cage full of saviors, Michonne walked up to them and as she did, she was holding Judith, as Scarlett held her arms out taking her, Rick kissed her on the forehead, as the two then looked to Daryl.

Judith leaned her head on Scarlett's shoulder, as she looked to Rick "where are they?" she whispered, and when she did, Rick knew who she was talking about, as he put his hand on her back, the two walked off.

Scarlett had handed Judith off to someone else as she went with Rick to Glenn and Abraham's graves, the two were sitting there, as Daryl walked up behind them "you know, I look around and..I think about the people that are gone..and the people that are still here. It ain't right. And it ain't fair. Look about..about what I did at sanctuary, trying to end it real quick..I just wanted it done. I didn't wanna give them another chance, not again. And I didn't care who was there. I don't if that makes it right or.." he shared "it does." Rick told him, standing up "I didn't wanna risk killing innocent people. I should've just been worried about our people. To hell with anyone else." he shared.

"We'll keep fighting..until your ready." Daryl shared "we're ready." Scarlett told him, standing up "Maggie's got lookouts out there." Rick shared "every half mile, waiting to signal each other, I know." Daryl shared "we're going, too." Scarlett told him "to make sure we're all ready." Rick told him "I'll go with you." Daryl told them "we should split up. We're covering as much ground as we can." Rick shared "all right." Daryl said, looking between the two "we're okay." Rick told him "yeah?" Daryl asked "okay. We're gonna be okay. Just not now." Scarlett shared, stepping around him and walking off, Rick followed her.

But Scarlett as she recalled what Carl said to her about Daryl, as she stopped walking "Daryl.." she said, turning to him and when she did, Daryl turned looking at her "you've always been there for us when.." Scarlett said, her voice breaking when she used Carl's words "when we needed you..so I just..just wanted to thank you." she told him, turning and walking off, Rick followed her, as the two headed out the gates and back into the van, driving off.

Having found a place to park and wait where they'd be unseen, Scarlett was in the tree while Rick was sitting on of the car, Scarlett was looking through the binoculars "if you see em coming, hit your horn. That'll start the handoff. Stick to the plan, don't engage." one of the group members they rolled out with said over the walkie, where as Scarlett saw the car's driving up, she gave Rick the signal, as Rick hopped off the car, he put his gun in the car and went to lay on the horn, Scarlett noticed Negan driving in a car by himself, as she climbed down from the tree "what?" Rick asked her "Negan. Alone in an all black car." Scarlett told him, opening the passenger side door, getting in, Rick got into the driver as he started it up, they drove off.

Making it into an alleyway, the two were driving down it as they saw the cars going past them "he's the last one." Scarlett informed him, where as the two made it to the end of the alleyway, they hit into Negan's car, causing him to go off course, he turned driving to the left and as he did, Rick and Scarlett drove after him, the two were right on him.

Where the two had managed to hit his car, sending it tumbling over, where he had nowhere else to go, as the two grabbed their guns, they got out of the car and began shooting at him, where the two soon saw him come out from the other side of it as they continued shooting, he dodged their bullets, where as Scarlett's came up empty, she swung it at the walker coming toward's them, as Rick reloaded, Negan ran into the building in front of them, as Rick continued shooting at him, he and Scarlett threw the guns down as they ran in after him, Negan swung his bat, as Rick slid down, Scarlett blocked it with her machete as she kicked him back.
