089. I'M TAKING CARE OF YOU ALL ON MY OWN

Chapter eighty nine

"I'm taking care of you all on my own."

In the days after Rick died, Scarlett would ride her horse out to that bridge and any walker that was there she would check if it were him and kill them with her sword, in the dirt though, she saw two things buried, as she put her sword away, she crouched down and began digging, finding Rick's axe there, she held it in her hand, as she put it in her holster, she looked to her left and saw silver and as she dug it up, the colt python was there, as she picked it up and held it close to her.

And even as months passed by and her baby bump began to grow for the child that he'd never get to meet, she'd still go out their every day, having put away her sword and carried around his axe and gun, she was also wearing his clothes especially his clothes cause it felt like he was still with her, as she swung her axe down on a walkers head, she pulled it out as it's body fell to the floor, it wasn't him, and she was starting to think that none of them ever would be, as someone cleared their throat, she spun around, her hand over her gun.

Daryl was standing there "he ain't out here." he told her, as he walked down "I followed this to the ocean and back. Ain't nothing out there, either. You good?" Daryl asked her "no. I don't sleep. But Judith, Caroline and Daryl have been asking about you. It would be nice if you just stopped by, you don't have to stay. I wouldn't make you." Scarlett shared "I'll be back when I find something." Daryl shared "you don't have to keep doing this." Scarlett shared "ain't gonna stop looking. Not ever." Daryl told her, as he walked up to her "that doesn't mean I'm gonna leave you alone either." he shared, putting his arm around her as the two walked off.

Sitting in her house, Scarlett was looking at Rick's gun and as she looked up from it and out the window, she saw Aaron walking up, as she turned walking to the front door, she put her gun in her holster and headed out the front door, Rick was on a bike as Judith and Caroline pushed from the front, Gracie and Daryl pushed from the back "you all keep an eye out for each other, okay?" she asked "yes, mom." Daryl told her, as Scarlett walked past them and up to Aaron "skin walkers?" she whispered to him, as the two began walking off "Daryl's at the gate." Aaron told her "so let him in." Scarlett told him "he's not alone." Aaron told her, as Scarlett furrowed her brows.

The two made it to the front, as they climbed up the ladder and onto the lookout, Laura was standing there and as they looked down, Daryl was there with Connie, Henry, dog and that girl "Henry's hurt. You were closest. I wouldn't have come. We had no other choice." Daryl shared "and I assume if she's with you that means you trust her?" Scarlett asked "she's with us." Henry shared "I'm not asking you. I'm asking Daryl." Scarlett shared, as Daryl nodded, Scarlett turned around "we can't trust her." Aaron whispered "I trust Daryl." Scarlett whispered, turning back "open the gate!" she voiced, turning and heading down.

Having been staying more in alexandria, Scarlett was told that there were people at the gates, Michonne was standing there holding one of them, Rosita was there as well along with Scott with a group of people "we found them wandering not far from here. One of them's hurt." Scott shared "I know this woman Scarlett. Her name is Jocelyn." Michonne shared, as Scarlett furrowed her brows.

Having let them in, they took Henry to the infirmary where Siddiq was stitching up while the girl Lydia sat next to him, Laura was keeping watch, as Scarlett was watching from the window, she turned around and walked up to Daryl "I expect you'll be going straight to the kingdom after?" she asked "probably not straight, but, yeah...Carol should know." Daryl shared, as he was cleaning the blood off his hands, Connie walked up to Scarlett and showed her something on a piece of paper, it read, this wasn't the plan but I'd do it all again, as she then flipped the paper, it read, with different shoes.
