Unbekannt
Compared to before the war with the Thestania Empire, the scale had somewhat expanded. A square was created in the center of the town, and a central bulletin board was established to post various job postings and notices for the residents of Unbekannt.
"Hiring maids at Nishitani Bar! Note: Applicants under 18 years old will not be considered. Males may be accepted depending on appearance."
"Burbo Ironworks!! Dwarves wanted!!"
"Elven Herbal Shop is hiring. We are looking for individuals knowledgeable about herbal medicine."
Various races were now allowed to open shops with the country's permission, making Unbekannt an even more vibrant town. Occasionally, thieves and pirates targeting Unbekannt's wealth would appear, but the peace of the town was protected by soldiers from the Kingdom of Reumel and the maritime safety forces.
Furthermore, businesses from within Japan became increasingly active in coming to Unbekannt, making all the shops appealing to the locals. However, the most popular was that training gym that guarantees results. Locals, having seen articles in Japanese magazines featuring slim men and women gaining muscular bodies by attending this gym, began to apply for membership one after another.
"It's gotten quite lively, hasn't it, Hijikata?"
"Yeah, it has, Boss."
Kondō and Hijikata patrolling Unbekannt were conversing while observing the peaceful and bustling town.
"By the way... it seems that most of the people here are demi-humans, right?"
"Hmm? Yeah, that's true. What about it?"
"I returned to the mainland once, and when I came back here, it felt like there were about twice as many demi-humans. There are humans too, but..."
"Well... humans do come to settle here, but they're properly receiving the country's pass, after all."
The population of the town had increased significantly, with most being demi-humans. They made up about 70% of the population. While there were some humans who wished to immigrate—
"What!? Why are there so many demi-humans here?"
"I heard this place was a Paradise, but it's uncomfortable with demi-humans around."
"I came all the way from the Tondo Kingdom to work, but if it's full of demi-humans, that's a problem."
"Why don't you just drive out the demi-humans!? Why are demi-humans even living here!? You're all humans too, right!?"
—Such opinions were prevalent, and many trade companies that had obtained permission from Japan reluctantly turned back.
"There's a strong sense of discrimination, huh..."
"That's the same back in the world we came from, right? Discrimination doesn't just disappear easily. It won't change even after hundreds of years... That failed incident was born from such sentiments, right?"
"Yeah, I suppose so... Huh?"
As Hijikata glanced towards the hospital, he noticed a patient who had just been discharged. A werewolf woman and a human man bowed to the doctor and nurses as they left the hospital. The werewolf was holding a newborn baby in her arms.
