The bustling port town of Ishmaine, usually lively with fishermen and merchants, was particularly noisy today for a different reason. A special envoy from the newly emerging nation of Japan, which had appeared in the northeast, was coming to this town. The entire town was filled with rumors about Japan.

"Hey, did you hear the rumor?"

"Yeah, something about an important figure from Japan coming to this port town, right?"

"What kind of country is Japan, anyway?"

"I heard it's a land where horned demi-humans live!"

"There's also a rumor it's a country of beastmen!"

"No, I heard it's a nation where only women live!"

The townspeople exchanged various speculative rumors about the mysterious land of Japan.

Homulus Mathu, the director of the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the Kingdom of Reumel, waited in the port town with his attendants and soldiers for the arrival of the Japanese diplomat.

"Japan, huh. What kind of country could it be?"

"Master Homulus, I'm excited to see what kind of ship they'll arrive in!"

"Hoho, perhaps they might come on a flame dragon?"

"E-eh!? Surely not..."

This was Zahanas Teuth, a young man from the Reumellian Foreign Affairs Bureau. He always wore a hat resembling a pork pie hat and had been appointed as the guide and attendant for the Japanese diplomat.

As they chatted, a ship appeared from across the sea. As the ship drew closer, everyone in the port town, including Homulus, was astonished by its sheer size.

Length: 178 meters, beam: 25,8 meters, maximum speed: 22 knots. Armaments include 2 CIWS, 2 RAM surface-to-air missile launchers, and 5 12,7 mm machine guns. Following the constitutional amendment, significant armament upgrades had been made.

'T-that's an enormous ship! It's more than twice the size of our country's warships! And it's moving without any sails! Wait, could this ship be made of iron!?'

The Ōsumi stopped some distance from the port. Homulus realized that the ship couldn't dock directly because the port's waters were too shallow. Soon, two small boats appeared, heading toward them at high speed, without any sails. When the small boats reached the port, three people emerged.

'Oh, so Japan is a nation of humans. And the two in the back... their uniforms are green and spotted... well, it's just a cultural difference, no need to dwell on it. Hmm? The man in the black formal suit at the front must be the diplomat.'

"Thank you very much for welcoming us. My name is Takehisa Horiuchi, a diplomat of the State of Japan. We deeply appreciate your acceptance of this meeting with our country."
