Emperor Belmard was completely cornered. The shock of being betrayed by his two trusted aides was immense, but in an instant, his expression shifted from anger to a calm acceptance, as if he had suddenly understood something.

"So... it ends here for me... I suppose there's no helping it."

"We will escort you to the Nakanotori Peninsula base. Please do not resist..."

At that moment, Emperor Belmard reached for the bottle and glass of alcohol on the table. Duke Carnegie noticed and immediately told him to put down the glass.

"Y-Your Majesty! Please, don't be rash!!"

"Oh, come on, can't you at least let me have one last drink?"

Just as Emperor Belmard was about to pour himself a drink, he suddenly smashed the bottle onto the floor, shattering it into pieces and scattering alcohol all around.

SMASH!

"Ngh!?"

"I... have no intention of being captured... not here!"

With that, he grabbed a nearby lit candle and dropped it onto the alcohol-soaked floor, igniting it.

"Agh!"

Though the flames were initially weak, they caught quickly, and Belmard took advantage of the momentary shock of Carnegie and his men, smashing several small jars filled with oil onto the floor to intensify the flames. In an instant, the room was engulfed in roaring flames.

"The hell!?"

"Shit! Is he planning to take his own life!?"

"Put it out! Extinguish the fire!"

Carnegie and his men desperately tried to douse the flames with large amounts of water, taking nearly forty minutes to finally extinguish them. But by then, the Emperor was nowhere to be found.

"He's... gone!?"

"With flames like that, he couldn't have survived... but there's no body. How can that be?"

"The window hasn't been opened... Could it be...?"

・・・

A few hours later

Somewhere in the Thestania Empire

A man staggered through the narrow space between two filthy buildings. His clothing was equally filthy, though it was once likely a splendid garment. This man was Emperor Belmard. Thanks to a hidden passage in the room, he had managed to escape.

"Hah... hah... hah... Damn it! I... brought so low like this... Damn it!"

He was filled with a burning desire for revenge. Fueled by hatred for Japan, he swore to rise again.

"Just you wait... Japanese bastards... But, where am I? I fled so frantically that I had no idea where I'd ended up. I'm sure I'm somewhere on the outskirts of the capital..."

Suddenly, raindrops began to fall, soon turning into a torrential downpour, making it hard to see even a few meters ahead.

"I guess I'll take shelter in this building... huh? Quite a sturdy door."

Creeeeak... Creeeeak...

He pushed open the heavy door to find a dark, expansive space. Though he couldn't see much, he sensed the vastness of the place. And there was a strong odor... the smell of beasts... the smell of animals?
