It is now a little longer.

Above the Forbidden Land, Eastern Kingdom of Reumel
The sun had already set, and the world was faintly illuminated by the beautiful stars and moonlight. In the night sky, dozens of wyvern knights were flying in formation. Among them were Cook and Anduil, the Commanders of the 8th and 9th Wyvern Knights, respectively.
"Messenger! Is there still no report from the reconnaissance team!?"
"Sir! We've received no contact yet!"
Cook and the others had dispatched several scouts to the northeast, where a mysterious gray dragon mentioned in a report from Lurtz, the Chief and Commander of the 1st Wyvern Knights, had appeared.
"According to Sir Lurtz, that 'gray dragon' is about the same size as a wyvern but faster and more agile. To be honest, though, I still find it hard to believe."
Anduil, the captain of the 9th Wyvern Knights, was the only woman among the nine captains of the Kingdom of Reumel's Wyvern Knights. She wore her long blonde hair tied up in a ponytail. Although she was 38, she looked so young she could easily be mistaken for being in her mid-twenties. However, her sharp eyes marked her as a top-tier warrior, and her personality was rather brash, akin to a man's.
"What are you saying, Anduil? Are you implying you don't believe Chief Lurtz? You know how competent and loyal he is, don't you? There's no way he'd make a mistake or report something false."
It was Cook, the captain of the 8th Wyvern Knights, speaking harshly to rebuke Anduil. He was a man known for his distinctive Kaiser mustache and was 49 years old. His strict demeanor often made him unpopular among the other commanders, though his skill was more than sufficient to warrant his position.
"Hmph! That's not what I meant. You're as rigid as ever, Cook."
"What nonsense! A soldier must trust his comrades and be absolutely loyal to the country! But lately, the troops..."
As Cook muttered complaints under his breath, Anduil sighed and grumbled, "Here we go again..." Just then, a messenger came rushing in with a report.
"R-reporting, sir! The reconnaissance team heading northeast has spotted two unidentified flying objects."
"Two, you say? Does that mean there were two gray dragons?"
"N-no, sir. One appears to be the gray dragon mentioned in the previous report, but the other is much larger. It is believed to be the mother dragon..."
"What!? Alright, got it. Half of the 8th Wyvern Knights, follow me! The rest, stay here and remain vigilant! Report any suspicious activity via manacomm immediately!"
"Anduil, what will your team do?"
"We'll stay here. Let us know immediately if anything happens. And whatever you do, don't be reckless!"
With that, half of the 8th Wyvern Knights headed northeast, while the remaining half stayed behind with the 9th Wyvern Knights.
・・・
Approximately 850 km northeast of the Forbidden Land
The Wyvern Knights under Cook joined the recon team. There, they witnessed something astonishing.
A "gray dragon" and a flying object that seemed to be its mother. Its shape was unfamiliar, but if asked what it resembled, one could only answer "a dragon." In this world, there is no other creature capable of flying so high and being so large except for dragons.
