This chapter is a bit shorter.
A new sci-fi weapon appears after a while, but this time it is a slightly upgraded version of the one that originally existed.

Kingdom of Eir outskirts
Under the beautiful, star-filled sky, the glimmering sand illuminated by starlight created a surreal scene where that group was secretly meeting.
"Hey, Yoruch, why didn't you let me go through with the kill as planned?"
"That's true... but if it's an order from the homeland, there's nothing we can do."
"Just recently... there was a report from the homeland. It seems Edgardo's been making deals with some country."
"Huh? Which country?"
"Well... it's not some low-civilization country, nor any of the moderately advanced nations either."
"What? That only leaves the great powers, doesn't it?"
"Hmm... yeah, that's probably it... but we can narrow it down further. The Republic of Berk is currently too occupied with a war against native guerrilla forces."
"So... does that mean the Kingdom of Leis?"
"Leis is currently focused on targeting Berk. Initially, it seemed like they were after either Japan or us... but maybe they assumed Berk would destroy itself."
"Hah! So that means it's only a matter of time before Berk falls!? The collapse of one of the great powers will disrupt the world's balance!"
"Well... maybe they're planning to manage things smoothly as one of the four great powers, or maybe..."
"Maybe what...?"
"Or perhaps they already have a replacement in mind?"
"...Hah! That's impossible. The Federated States of Cuadrado who came close to being a successor no longer exist."
"Well, that's beside the point... the reason I gathered you all here today is to report something I discovered. This happened a few days ago, just before the assassination order was rescinded. Now that I think about it, one reason for the halt may have been that I relayed this discovery to the homeland..."
"W-what is it? What did you find?"
After taking a deep breath to calm himself, Yoruch began to speak.
"It happened when I infiltrated the Eirian castle... I wanted to re-check the interior to ensure the assassination would go smoothly. Then I happened upon the room of the envoy from Japan... and there, I saw something."
"What was it!?"
"I found what appeared to be... a wireless telegraph."
"!?"
Everyone was astonished. It was a technological marvel that allowed long-distance communication without using magic—superior even to manacomm. And it was being used by the up-and-coming nation of Japan.
"Hey, come on, you're kidding, right!? How could a backwater country like it have such an advanced communication device!?"
"I don't know, but that wireless telegraph looked quite different from the ones we're familiar with. Still, I think it operated in a similar way."
"You've got to be kidding me..."
"It's possible... that the country Edgardo was secretly contacting was Japan. A civilization advanced enough to possess wireless telegraph technology... we can't underestimate them."
