"History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid."

- Dwight D. Eisenhower

I really like this quote (=゜ω゜)

In this chapter, I wrote about the state of great powers that desperately wanted Japan.

Republic of Berk, Southeastern Urkhana Archipelago Region

The Republic of Berk is a country located to the southeast, centered around a main island (Urkhana) with several archipelagos scattered throughout.

In this archipelago, there exists a dragon known as the "giant dragon," which is unique to this region. The creature is, quite literally, an overwhelmingly large dragon compared to the typical dragon. The largest among them measures about 150 meters in length. While it cannot shoot fireballs like a wyvern, its immense size serves as a weapon. The giant dragon is covered in tough scales that are impervious to rocks launched from cannons or catapults.

The Republic of Berk uses this giant dragon to engage in battles against Flame Dragons, subduing and incorporating the defeated Flame Dragons into its military.

The islands of this country vary in size, but each serves as a sort of "fortress," capable of attacking invading enemy ships from all directions. Additionally, it allows for the concealment of ships-of-the-line in various locations. When the enemy is effectively cornered, warships and giant dragons are deployed to crush them.

Naturally, the giant dragon also plays a significant role in expeditions. A large number of soldiers can be mounted on the back of the giant dragon, using it for bombardments and rock drops from directly above enemy bases, as well as deploying troops into enemy territory through a tactic known as "dragon descent."

Ultimately, it was because of the giant dragon that the Republic of Berk was able to join the ranks of the Five Great Powers.

・・・

Baltago, capital of the Republic of Berk

The vibrant capital features a townscape reminiscent of pre-industrial England, paired with a climate and atmosphere reminiscent of Southeast Asia. Well-maintained roads are lined with wooden and brick buildings.

・・・

Dragon Force Base Island, about 25 km north of Baltago

Just moments ago, the dragon carriage carrying Foreign Secretary Ester had just arrived at the port. Ester stepped out of the dragon carriage.

"Thank you for your hard work, Mr. Foreign Secretary! Now, please, step into the carriage! The President is waiting!"

"Oh! That seems important."

Ester got into the carriage and headed toward the Presidential Office. As he looked around from the carriage window, he spotted soldiers lined up in formation, carrying what appeared to be flintlock muskets in various places.

"...Again?"

"Ah... yes, the indigenous people of the islands around our country have been frequently attacking merchant ships, so the escort for merchant vessels has tripled compared to before. We don't know where they got them, but they are using guns and putting up fierce resistance, so we can't let our guard down."

"Even so, aren't those just old matchlock guns?"

"They are still guns, nonetheless."

"Ah... I wonder how they obtained them... Those without knowledge or education will only use modern weapons for destruction. Well, it's true that we were the ones who drove out and occupied the natives... I had a feeling it would come to this... that idiot!"
