2nd Operations Command Center, Nakanotori Peninsula Base
On the front wall, there was a huge monitor, with a medium-sized monitor on each side. In front of the large monitor, numerous desks equipped with electronic devices, such as computer terminals, were arranged in rows.
This room, which was large enough to accommodate two sizable movie theaters, was one of the "Operations Command Centers."
"Amafune 02, 05, 06, ETA 1 minute."
"One minute, understood... prepare for release."
"Release preparation complete..."
"5... 4... 3... 2... release."
"...Amafune 02, 05, 06 release confirmed... All Amafune releases complete."
The giant main monitor displayed 15 blinking green dots, which had stopped near a certain coastline. Above the green dots, the message "Release Complete" was shown.
The operators, highly skilled in cyber-related tasks, were sitting at desks equipped with devices, silently organizing information while facing the monitors and consoles.
Sitting in the room and issuing commands was Lieutenant General Sakai, overseeing the operations.
'Good, good... first, the pod with the A.W. is successfully deployed... now, onto the unmanned support vehicle...'
"Good... launch the Katakage."
"Understood... 5... 4... 3... 2... launching from Amafune 15."
"Katakage launch complete."
"Hm! ...First stage complete! Now, each of you, assist with A.W. support."
"Understood."
Sakai slowly walked to the center of the room and stopped in front of a nearly 2-meter-tall cylindrical pedestal, to operate a panel on it.
From the center of the pedestal, a 3D hologram appeared. What appeared in 3D was the real-time view of the planet, or rather, the planet itself.
"Huh? Lieutenant General, something wrong?"
"Hmm? No... nothing..."
"By the way... we can now see most of the planet's overall image."
"Yeah, we've launched 20 satellites. This much is normal."
"But... we still can't fully grasp the far western side, right? We've only managed to capture about two-thirds of it."
The 3D hologram of the planet showed an area missing on the far western side, as satellite photos for that region had yet to be obtained. Normally, this area should have been captured by now, but for some reason, it hadn't.
"...I don't know the cause, but the satellites can't capture this zone... Why is that?"

What can be heard on this quiet night are the sounds of the waves and the pleasantly soothing breeze that almost lulls one to sleep.
